i fitter a new flow master to a trolly system last year all was ok till a week ago when i turn it on the digital numbers flicker so you cant see what number you have selected and now the pump stops as if there is a dead end! does it need re setting or has the pump gone? any ideas?

The first thing is to try and establish if the issue is with the Pump - Battery or controller.
1) Connect the battery direct to the pump if the pump runs fine it is not likely to be a problem with the pump.
2) make sure the battery is fully charged, If possible can you check the battery voltage?
Then
3) I know you say the digits flickered has the display gone blank?
Did you see any message IE
Bat? - DE? or OC? Also
4) What calibration and flow rate have you been running it On?
5) What size pump are you using?
6) have you changed any of the fittings or pole recently?
7) Is there a possibility of any blockage or air lock any where in the hose or jets?
Once we can try narrow down where the fault is within the system I can be more specific with advice

hi ian here goes
1 i tried my spare battery the pump worked fine pumped the water out too strong
2 i have no means to check the battery voltage but used the second battery and the digits were flashing/blinking like billyo as before
3 no you cant see anything its so fast.....but push the up down and side way buttons and you get this
up+side=BAE/CAL
down+side= FLO/BAE
side= OFF
4 it was set on 33
5 the pump came with the freedom trolley ( 6 yrs )
6 nothing has been changed on the trolley
7 there are no blockages in the hose/brush head
pure freedom have said it needs a new pump and controller

if you fitted new controller last year, why would you need a new one already !?

we have been having a problem with a controller same as you flashing saying low battery think we fixed it a loose conection to the battery

That narrows things down. Are you close to Pure freedom? Andrew knows his stuff it may be worth you dropping in there.
If you are seeing the Bat message it would suggest the control is measuring less than 11.5V measured at the controller
Below 11.5V the controller flashes 'BAT' warning that the battery is low.
Below 11.0V the controller shuts down to protect the battery.
This would suggest a flat battery How old is it? how often is it charged?
my suggestion would be
1) To Check the connections to the controller from the battery
Also the cable between the controller and the pump
This is because any damage to the wire the greater the volt drop. For instance you could measure 12.5V at the battery but only measure 11.5V at the controller when the pump is running. This is because of the losses in the wiring from the battery to the controller.
2) Another possibility is that the pump motor may be inefficient and be drawing a high current, The Higher the Current draw the shorter time each charge will last. A six year old pump is doing well.
If all the connections are good and the Battery is fully charged and the Pump seems strong we are left with the controller
I would then suggest taking it in to PF let them have a look - If the control is less than 12 months old it would be covered by our warranty.
If more than 12 months old it may be more cost effective to replace it

I am back down in the factory tomorrow I will chase it up, I know when the technician had a quick look last week he felt it was repairable.
It is one of our older versions of the digital control and it was good to see it has been running for so long.
