I have a hot tap in my garage ex washing machine, if I used this to fill the tank in my van would it cause any damage to RO filter or resin.
-
Can't speak for the RO unit, but I do it often and it has no adverse effect on my resin, other than it tend's to have a slightly higher tds than cold water.
-
theres a good chance you will damage the pump with the hot water
-
if you have a hot tap in garage turn temp down (if you can) to about 30 degrees it will mean you speed up ro production a lot, but dont run it through the resin pump it to your van cold and use di there
advantage quicker water production
dis advantage engery bills

scrimble what do you mean ?? theres a good chance you will damage the pump with the hot water
well our pumps are used every day 8 till 5 pm 5 days a week with hot water on my thermopure set up and still got the original pump 6 and half years on ?? Damage the pump ....i dont think so
fact: ro will handle 60 degrees approx
resin will handle 62 degrees approx
so filling from your hot tap is not a bad idea , ive done this for a least 6 years now no probs in fact June at gaps water reckons it keeps the ro cleaner

i was told by shurflo themselves that if you use the pump with proper hot water (not luke warm) as in the water temp of the water which is flowing through the pump, then the pump wont last long at all it will burn itself out because the cold water actually cools the pump,
if however cold water passes through the pump and then is heated after which is how my hot water setup then there is no problems obviously

Your pump will have a limit on as far as heated water goes.I know on my pump it 65/d I heat my water to 55/d and my tds is the same as cold. I use a pond heater to keep my static at 35 /d and a boiler element to take it to 55/degree it takes 40min in the morning. THAT'S A 235 LITRE TANK

how much does the pond heater cost to run per hour ?
