Cleaned a ladies 3 piece suite last week...or rather just the arms, base back etc. Why ? Cos when I turned up she had ALL the covers in the washing machine.
Told her that wasnt advisable cos of possible bleaching, shrinkage etc.
Anyway, received phone call this morning...she now has a two tone suite and demanding her money back or re-clean the bits I did !
Told her I wasnt going to clean something that was already clean...and was a silly thing to do putting covers in a 60* wash !!
Beware of the phone call...JUST DO THE ARMS & BACK ONLY !

The answer to that one is,
"Madam the zips are on the cushions for the upholsterer to put the packing in, NOT for you to take the covers off and put them in the washing machine"
Do your selling let them know that you are a Professional!!!

Hi Guys,
One of the fundamentals of upholstery cleaning is to do the same to all of the suite.
If custy insists on putting cushions in washing machine the a coloureds powder should be used as this will not contain bleaching agents.

Is that on every suite that you clean Mike??

I mean on my own suite :)
although I do have a few customers who put the cushions in the wash, but i only knock off £20 so I don't know why they bother.

Oh :o :o :o :o
I imagined that you gave them instructions of what to do with the cushion covers the night before you want to clean their suite so they would be ready to put on the dry base when you had finished. ::) ::) ::) ::)

Surprising how many chance it despite the labels telling them not to;
Done two very large suite bases today at a huge house, mega rich couple,
49% Chenille Cotton
27% Cotton
24% Polyester
The covers she had put in the washing machine, despite the fact that she had tried to clean the base covers previously in the washing machine and shrunk them ::)
Some will never learn as she admits she is petrified they will also have shrunk (which they probably will) when the time comes to put them on, all to save £90.00. They probably leave more as tip when they out to eat ::)
It's their gamble not yours so don't worry about it, we can only try and educate them ;)
I will find out the outcome next week when I go back to clean the carpets.
