Title: Dirty black rubber seals with wfp
Post by: Darren H on January 29, 2012, 08:50:23 pm
Converting lots of customers over to wfp and have had no problems but i have yet to have a go at windows where the rubber seals leave black marks all over your scrim when wipeing around the edges.
If you scrub and use stacks of water does the black finally rinse out or are these just a no no because water hits dirty rubber and runs back down glass.

any advice would be great.

Thanks darren.

They will always leave spotting, mostly at the top for some reason. Peeps never see them, they are so small and faint. Just batter them with water initially. After 5 years I still get top seal spotting.

Get yourself some TFR or Virosol and spray the rubber - TFR works esp. well as soon as you start to scrub the
black crud runs like rivers but after a minute the water will run clear - then clean the frame and glass as normal
finishing with a good rinse - from then on you wont see any more black marks - even when returning to trad.

for this reason i treat all windows as above when it's a first clean and if you've rinsed enough they don't spot

i wouldn't get the cheap stuff off ebay - it's rubbish when diluted.

any cleaning supply shop should have some - make sure it's non caustic - local to me is a company called Hugh Crane
who supply all different chemicals to the cleaning trade.

i think halfords may sell it.

What a choice :)

I personally found Virosol very good, but I have only tried few brands.

Thought this trick about seals is new to me, will have to give it a go.
