During my quest to be the best carpet cleaning guru in the land, i am considering getting my paws on some of these books.
http://www.cresta-books.co.uk/ (http://www.cresta-books.co.uk/)
Has anyone on this forum got any of the books, and are they any use, ie full of USEFULL information??

To the best of my knowledge there's not a single book that get's anywhere near covering anything near everything you need to know.
The introduction to carpet cleaning (on the link) seems like it might be a reasonable start to understanding materials and various products to clean them with, but the best learning would be to do an actual course and then be prepared to be on a steep learning curve through practical experience.
Then after 3 or even 5 years you will still question yourself what to do in some situations.

I first read Dr Browns Fundermentals of Carpet Cleaning about 20 years ago.
I believe he is involved with Woolsafe .
I do not know if the book gas been revised but at £10 you could do a lot worse.

Chemspec used to do quite an in depth one.

Matt,
If someone base jumped from 200ft they wouldn't have a Tuesday, Wednesday, or any other day! ;D

Very difficult to find books on carpet cleaning anywhere. Many years ago I bought a book by Lloyd Owens which I found to be a great help to me at the time. That was long before these forums came into existance. I think the book is still available from some machine suppliers. It will be slightly out of date at this point but still contains a wealth of useful information and advice.

Its available at Extracta .
Fintan like you I wonder if they revised it as they never revise their Web Site but have to agree very good book and a lot still applies today
If you look up Jeff Cross on Amazon there is a Kindle Book for about £7.00 112 pages fully illustrated on all you need to know to pass the Clean Trust Carpet Cleaning Tec exam
Also has sample questions
Jeff Cross is Editor of Cleanfax and a USA Clean Trust Trainer

Everything you need is online.

That's true, online you can find lots of useful information and also reviews from customers and their experience. Otherwise you can get a book from the library, but it might be out of date.
