first time in a year going out canvassing whats the best thing to say please

i say,hi i clean widows across the road and i just wondering if you would like yours cleaning i charge £5.00 every 2 weeks are £ 7.00 a month,ok do you want them cleaning now, yes ok but i will pay you next week, ohh ive just remembered not got much time today ill clean them next week when you got some money ;D

that was through facebook plus i have added £110 a months on commercials this week.
i will be canvassing for 3 hours tommorow!

Blimey its all go, I love social media for business and look after a few companies at the moment.... You must feel happy as must be a long way towards your target now...

You get loads of leaflets round my way but not so many people actually knocking on doors. I think people prefer dealing with somebody face to face. They can only say 'no thanks' I guess.

yes im definately getting towards the targets so yes very happy!I just dont want to get complacent.Im going to get canvassing for the forseable future!

Ringo, canvassing door to door is the only way to go. I worked for another cleaner last week on an estate that he had work on and had been leafleting for 3 years, still came out with nearly 120 quid in less than 3 hours. Face to face is always the best way...

just added 2 more £10 every 4 wks and a £9 every 4 weeks both in areas i already clean thats in the last 20 mins on facebook!

i just say this and it works hi im a local window cleaner we just started working in this area,. so just calling round to ask if you need window or gutter cleaning (the way you say this is important relaxed, confident, make eye contact)

When I get going in the next couple of weeks i don't mind the idea of canvassing face to face. My only worry is knocking and seeing another cleaner who gets the hump at me being there and has a go!

I have knocked on a few over the years, just have a chat and see if they work in their own area. 99% will be friendly...

Are there any particular times when NOT to canvass? ie dark evenings/weekend evenings??

I personally don't canvass in the dark - difficault to see the state of the windows & lots of people are edgy opening the
door ( so already defensive )
also sunday lunch time - nothing worse than pulling a potential punter away from the family roast so i start around 9.30 and stop around 12.30 then i go out again from 3

I work 2pm till 8pm and leave weekends. No problem knocking in dark as long as you stand back from the door and be friendly. I do get guys coming to the door puffing their chest out but once you explain what you doing and you not trying to sell gas or electric they soon calm down....

Ive not tried canvassing in the dark yet but I think I may do as the number of people answering the doors is much higher than during the day, although during the day i do find i pick up the custies which are home most of the time so they pay when we turn up.
Ive been out an hour monday, two hours yesterday in light snow, and 2 hours today picked up 90 quid. Nice houses, some just fronts, some with connies.
Going to make a big push this year to build the round up and take some guys on, hoping to add 2 grand by the end of march.
I dont bother doing leaflet drops, but i do have leaflets. I basically give a leaflet to anyone who says they have a window cleaner "just incase they get stuck without one" - I give a leaflet to those which are not sure and write the price on the front and I also give one to my new custies as it explains my whole service, payment methods etc on.
I always direct them to the website whoever they are.
I dress smart, trousers and shoes, have a nice big jacket with my logo embroidered on the left breast and i open with the lines...

If they say yes i say "ok not to worry, can i give you leaflet just incase you get stuck and maybe you can check our website out for future reference" and I walk away.
If they say no i dont have a windy, I say " would you be interested in having us come round once a month to clean your windows for you, we clean frames, sills and doors as well on every visit its only £xx for the front.
If they say excellent i close the deal and go through the details with them... if they say no thanks i just say "not to worry then have a leaflet anyway" and walk off.
I find I get a very good response from people using this script, it helps market to those who are not interested, but also looks great to those who take me up on my offer and saves me money for printing etc....it does stop my leaflets going in the bin too as they have a face and a company image to put to it.
