Is this legal? If so is there any licence or permission needed to do this?
-
Yes it is but varies by region - search the old posts

Look on your local water boards website

Hi there
I did a jet washing job last month and used a hydrant, you will need a licence for the area you are working in, the cost of the hire was about £80 plus what ever amount of water you used.
-
Thanks
Just got to locate the Hydrants now...............
Northumbria Water is £150 deposit then £73 + water
-
The water board should be able to tell you where the closest point is if that helps.
Always worth checking it works ok before you start / book in work... we have been caught out previously when the hydrant point has been unusable, causing a delay in our work.
What you might also find is they hold the deposit until you pay bill £73 + water, hence it can take ages to get deposit back! But they all operate differently.

Sounds like you english guys get a bargain. Scottish water want £500 for the year, But you do get unlimited water usage.
