WTF, how do you make it pay, 7 YEARS????????

I increase my prices every two years, my customers expect it and understand that I also have bills to pay. Some go up by 50p others by £1 but they all go up.

Yes I do lose the odd one but if they don't like it, tough.

Beginning of last year diesel cost me £1.18ltr now it's £1.41ltr, Van insurance has gone up, liability has gone up, food, gas and all that has gone up  and you can't be expected to stand those increases year on year.

If you do not increase prices fairly regularly then customers will moan and drop you when you get round to it. At the end of the day you are running a business not a charity.

The cheek of these jumped up newbies, if i knocked 50p off every year i'd still be getting more than you in 10 years time, I haven't seen any of your work but from what I'm told you won't have any left soon , they should call you streaky Pete!!. Thats it i'm off.

All up a pound for every £5.00 once a year.
If they leave they leave, to be honest we really don't give a hoot

Business is easy, it amazes me how many people don't understand the price increase

Using your system since the turn of the century on a customer who was paying £7.

2000 - £7
2001 - £8
2002 - £9
2003 - £10
2004 - £12
2005 - £14
2006 - £16
2007 - £19
2008 - £22
2009 - £26
2010 - £31
2011 - £37
2012 - £44

Sounds a bit unlikely to me. £52 next year and £62 the year after...

Business is easy, it amazes me how many people don't understand the price increase

I understand it but I really would be surprised if you had any long-term customers left after those increases.

Vin

This is just for mr perfect windows..

Yes you can add up, well done chap.
How ever it's not that much sunshine and rainbows.
Our most costly customer, domestic, I was referring to btw, is 35 pounds, and yes this is a very cut throt world we all live in, I've lost a few but not many, we get rich quick and that's the business side of life, if I'm honest not every one goes up, but the ones who can afford it and sometimes miss the odd clean, they very much do go up.

Naturally there is a cut off point or I would be out of business a ong time ago.
But I'm here telling the tale, so we r doing something right.

Don't hate the player, hate the game ;)

Sorry matey, but your exact words were: "All up a pound for every £5.00 once a year."  Very clear indeed.  So your £35 one will go up to £42 this year.  And to £50 next year.  And £60 in 2014.

Yeah, right.

I'm not interested in players or games but I am interested when people give advice that clearly doesn't stand up to a moment's scrutiny.

Hi John f.

Honesty, I'm not at all interested in being polite or using the correct words and being a generally monkey see monkey do guy on here.

Il post as I see fit, keeping in the house rules. A forum will bring out all kinds of fake threads and fortune cookie stories, del boys and Alan sugar the 2nds..

It's all fun and some good advice here, but thanks for your kind reply, il bare it in mind.

I can also see where I contradicted my self on my reply, il be sure to rag my self for the highly costly mistake..
Over and out

mine all go up £1 every year, I don't mess about with letters or telling customers face to face, thats just asking for trouble imo, I just add a pound to the their bill, its very rare for anyone to even comment on the rise.. and even rarer for someone to cancel because of it!! Don't make a song and dance about it, just put em up!!!  ;)

I always tell my customers face to face,if there are any questions why there is a price increase I can answer them and if they are still unhappy I get the satisfaction of dumping them, before they dump me :D

I never increase my prices to excisting customers, I try to upgrade my equipment and methods of cleaning, by doing so over the last 7 years or so, my cleaning time has gone down and my hourly and monthly turnover has gone up.

All new customers or those that move house, are charged at the new rates which do go up from time to time, but there is a limit on what you can charge for a simple 7 window house.

So putting your prices up every year could soon price you out of the market.
