Title: Anyone get too much pressure?
Post by: Dave Willis on January 26, 2012, 05:35:31 pm
Put on a new Varistream and ever since I can't get rid of the pressure, pump just wants to push and push when it's all switched off at the hose. Re callibrating makes no difference. Anyone else had trouble?

Have you disconnected the pressure switch  ???
If you have, it could be a faulty controller.  :'(

I thought it was faulty so bought another - exactly the same. Williamsons although helpful say it's most likely my system at fault. He maybe right but I can't sort it out. I'm not new to wfp so should be able to sort it but this one's got me baffled.

Have you tried disconnecting your hose reel so there is less hose to expand, you may have to fit a "stop end" to the hose that connects to your reel ........... unless you already have one fitted.

not yet. I did stick my thumb over the pump outlet today it stopped the pump instantly as I would expect but then after a few seconds it would start up again and continue building pressure. Williamsons couldn't understand my pressure settings - I was down to six on pressure in an attempt to keep it down with a high flow rate of eight. I reverted to their factory stting of 'C' and a flow of five. Makes no difference.

That sounds like my system, pressure builds and builds have used all the different letters and ratings, will be ok for a while and then blows connctor of the reel, been told because i have the smaller microbore hose 6mm, bloody annoying though

Which controller have you got? Is it he one with four glands underneath or the one with just one hole with four wires going up through?

i had this problem while pump is running full blast pull off hoselock that connects to the real and put it back on again. i think i had air lock and the controller couldn`t detect the pressure. i have to do that if my tank goes empty and i suck air through.

I had same. air lock, unplug from reel and let it clear then it's ol after for me. only happens when I've ran low or drained system.
