Title: Water marks at bottom of glass!!
Post by: Klean07 on January 24, 2012, 07:25:20 pm
I have a couple of custies that always mention to me on a couple of their windows at the bottom dry with water marks about 2 to 3 inchs from bottom of glass. It dries like a extended arch effect. When I clean the windows in question it doesn't matter how much I scrub and rinse theres always a 3 inch layer at bottom of glass that starts to appear after walking away.
Anyone else get this. If so whats the solution?

Have you tried cleaning with an agent like virosol or TFR ?

i've only ever had 1 property like this - cleaned wfp - marks along the window ( bottom 2/3 inches ) could only remove
with cleaning agent and cloths.

next month cleaned wfp and these marks came back - you couldn't see them from outside or while window wet.

repeated above - month 3 same again -  gave it up as a bad job.

it's my only WFP failure

Its like 2 thirds of glass will dry with the sheet effect but last 3rd will dry with the rain effect, therefore its the rain effect part that dries with marks etc on it.

so is there no answer? my only similar experience turned out to be dripping from upstairs window splashing off downstairs sill.

Sounds like water is dripping from the first floor window sill and hitting the ground floor one, causing it to splash water on to the glass.

Clean the window above first then do the rest of the house.  Come back and do the affected window last once the dripping above has stopped.

I've had the same thing myself- do upstairs first, wait for dripping to stop then clean as normal.  I have even wiped the wall with brush to speed up the stopping of the drips.

I'm almost certain that these marks have always been there & are have not been created by wfp. ;)

I've got a house where one window has watermarks at the top of the window.  They're caused by any water running down the masonary and dripping onto the window.  Above this window they have fairly recently had some of the stonework repaired with lime mortar.

I clean the window above it first, so that there are no more drips by the time I do the watermarked window. Then I give it a scrub with limescale remover (takes 30 seconds) - before WFPing it.  The couple of cleans I used to squeegee it off - but it dries fine now. It's not as bad each time now - and the customer appreciates the special care they get!! ;)

Bottom windows are fine, its the upstairs windows. I wouldn't want to be getting my ladder off just for this.
