Was asked to provide quotation for cleaning rooflights in a factory - the cleaning is required for handover.
The roof is constructed from asbestos cladding and has guttering channels running along the width of the building, with two rows of rooflights either side.
I was initially asked if we would could use crawler boards to move over the asbestos panels :o to gain access or use the drainage channels for access.
I returned the question to the site manager... would you send your guys up there on crawler boards ? answer no. Are the channels signed off as safe to use ? answer no.
My response was somewhat abrupt ... 'So what makes you think I will send my guys up there?? (with a laugh)'
We have now put forward what I think is a 'workable method'. We will supply suitable boom nifty21 this will give us access to first set of lights. Looking to firstly use wfp if results are ltd will use alkaline solution/ dwell / rinse again wfp. Second set will still be 8m away due to ltd outreach will clean using similar method and possibly telescopic lance, low press -- with care. Cleaning will be ltd purely to the rooflights.
Whist cleaning, areas inside will be cordoned off (beneath work area) in case of an accident!
(Please note the panels are what I would call the latest version of asbestos panels and are in great condition not pre 60s type! In general we will not touch any roof constructed from asbestos however these seem to be the latest variant! )
The question is - What methods do you guys use to clean Rooflights ;D Any improvements on above... apart from walkaway ;D

hi there asbestos cleaning is subject to strict HSE criteria and regulation. Its a real minefield and needs to be handled with great care. Send me a PM with your number.

mikes not cleaning the panels just the plastic roof lights in between the panels, we would use the same method as you mike
