-
I use 8mm minibore never tried the 6mm so can't comment, mines lasted me 18 months and still going strong :)
-
good enough 8mm it will be

6mm is more manageable and lighter.gardiners microbore,100m on their lightweight reel is what i use.highly recommended.

yes it's the same as the 8mm just smaller

if you use 6 mill the pressure going through the pump is a lot higher the makers of the pump rec 8 mill hose

I heard this too, pump has to work harder and can get less flow. Also think about winter, easier for it to freeze id reckon!
I have 8 mm, tho i guess 6mm would be lighter, dont know if it kinks more or less?

I've got 8mm on 1 reel and 6mm on the other never had a problem with either, the 6mm was cheaper metal hosereel with 100mtrs of6mm hose inc vat delivered £125.
-
I use 6mm. Have been for around a year with the same 100m reel and had no problems.
Hope this helps.
-
Thanks
-
In the past I've used both and prefer 6mm. The flow rate isn't that different, but the hose is so much easier to pull and cheaper to boot.
Simon.

I've been using 6mm for about 9 months now; two reels of 100 m on each. No problems with either reel; no problems with the hose, even when massive bin lorries park on it (though that does stop the flow). >:(
And my pumps are fine too.

thanks for info

I use the 8mm - as above i was 'informed' that 6mm worked the pump harder and i would not get the
same flow & i use a high flow rate so continued with 8mm
But i would suggest you get a good quality 'slimline' hose esp. if you get 8mm - i brought a cheap 100 meters - it had a large cross section profile and i could hardlt pull it once it got to the 70 meter mark. ( dumped it after 4 weeks ) now using streamline - very easy to use and pull.
always check the o/d of the hose before buying

someone "informed" me of that too Darran, But I now know it to be poop. well it might be true of some pump/controller/hose combinations but not mine. i use 6mm and all is cool.

Cleancare - at the time it seemed too much of a risk changing over
connectors & possibly running the risk of the pump not pumping enough H2O through to the brush head to go 6mm
perhaps i'll go 6mm on the next van set up ;)

yeh me too i got scared off so went for 8mm minibore from 1/2" back in the day but my mate went for 6mm with no problems so went for 6mm about a year later, i still have the reel with the minibore on in the shed if i ever need it.

It's not poop, it's fact boys! ;D
You have to run a pump faster & with a higher pressure setting (which both combined would represent it working "harder") with 6mm hose than 8mm to achieve a set flow rate. ;)
However, the pumps are up to the job with either hose but reflecting the above fact, with 6mm you'll use more battery power & have more pressure in the system- which is why you see posts with no end of leaks, connectors popping of etc etc. ;)
-
Ive used 6mm microbore for nearly 5 yrs, still using the same shurflo pump, changed the microbore last year, as the old one was springing too many leaks, that lasted 4 yrs.
The hose was made by streamline.
So the argumemt that 6mm knackers your pump,
In my experience, is not true.

6mm Problems.......
My experience....
I have 6mm Wintecs about 85 mtrs (cut a 100mtr)
The Shurflow 100psi pump is availeble to us in 2 different FLOW RATES:
5.3 lpm and 3.4 lpm
Most Discribed as "100psi Shurlow Pumps" are the 5.2 lpm and, I found, unles controled (slowed down) they push too much water down 6mm and the pump will jump. I changed to the 3.4 lpm and no problem.
I found the 3.4lpm here:
http://www.cleaningspot.co.uk/acatalog/water_pumps.html (http://www.cleaningspot.co.uk/acatalog/water_pumps.html)
Note both are available here
8000 441 138 3.8 lpm
8000 946 135 5.2 lpm

What is the actual flow rate you get with your set-up without a controller? Thanks.

It might be true what your saying winpro but I GET PLENTY ENOUGH OUT OF MY BRUSH HEAD EVEN WHEN I WANT TO CRANK IT UP (sorry just seen caps) with wide fans on for fascias etc. no leaks, and my battery lasts over a week on one charge...all i need my friend ;D

Figures don't mean a lot to me only when choosing the right pump.
As for in use,the 3.8 lpm, I have to slow the pump down or it throws out, in my opinion, way too much.

You'll still get enough flow mi old mucka ;D but if you used 8mm you'd get that same flow with the pump running slower & with less pressure, there are benefits which come with this. ;)
That's my main point.
As for pump durability, I think most pumps are well capable of both 6mm & 8mm hose & for how cheap pumps are I don't think it's a very valid argument.

Not between me & thee, just in general. ;D

Yep I use the small pumps (But have up to 18L/min options) and use a bypass to reduce the flow further. I use 4mmID and 6mmOD cheap flexible silicon type airline hose 8)

i have used 6mm hose for the last 6 years with one pump lasting 4 of them years with no flow conn at all so i think it dose not matter witch hose you use its down to personal choice
