Post by: Deangsi on January 21, 2012, 04:25:45 pm
hi guys looking for a bit of advice on pricing up carpet cleaning jobs. i currently have a nice window cleaning outfit that is expanding nicely over the next 12 months i will be looking at taking someone on to do it. in the mean time im going to be setting up other cleaning services such as a wheelie bin cleaning section and was looking into carpet cleaning but in all honesty i dont have a clue how to price up carpet cleaning work. do you charge per meter? any help would be great. Thanks Dean

you want to earn *£50* an hour, when you get your kit and have some training then practice on your own and friends carpets. time your self and then deduct 20% of the time as you will get quicker within a  couple of months

from this you can work out how much to charge to make £50 an hour

eg: in an hour you cleaned your through lounge add 30mins because with a real customer you will have to travel to the job..... so you need to factor in that amount of time, so that through lounge took an hour and a half (approx) so charge £75

this is a simple way to work out your price, the amount per hour you want to earn is a personal thing

60p a sq/m seems to be ok according to some on here so go with that.
Initially you'll be working for about £12/hour but with experience you could get to the heady heights of £16/hour. ;D

Why not. If you can stand the monotony there can be some good money in it.
One of my commercial contracts used to take a weekend every 4 months and for the grand total of nearly £1k. Granted it was a bit testing on the neck and shoulders working a pole at 60 foot but for that money it was worth putting up with.
Sadly the company moved to a smaller complex so that was the end of that, and I sold up the rest of that part of the business at the same time....... just as the recession kicked off   ;D

Carpet cleaning always looks attractive to WC this time of year until they find out how dead it is. In July WC looks attractive to me when I'm sweating my bollox off in some old grannies flat with the heating on.  ;D
