Title: General Window Cleaning Advice...
Post by: Tom White on January 20, 2012, 05:50:42 pm
When someone phones you and asks, "How much do you charge to clean a house?", they're really saying "I'm a price sensitive customer (a tight spong)", always give 'em a minimum cleaning price of your choice and impress upon them your strictness of frequency and bore them with stories of turning up to clean and being turned away.

It sorts the wheat from the chaff without you having to physically go and quote.

Also ask them if they have any dogs or locked gates.

What's your tips?

not always, had a road I have canvased in sept. or oct ., around 10-12 houses, most of them 13-15 some 16-17 quid each, last windy used to charged 8 quid each and stopped coming, so far all happy to have have a new window cleaner and even keep calling before a due date if I have not forgotten them :)
around 160-180 quid for good half a day work.
all started from one guys whose windy has stopped coming...

there is no such a rule.

Some people call and ask for price just to start conversation...only had 2 or 3 (last 6 months) who asked for the price and if I give an idea of the costs they say ohh no sorry..

getting more customers solves most problems.
short of money? get more customers.
getting PITA customers? get more customers.
customers moan about you working in bad weather? get more customers.
work not compact enough? get more customers.

when you do get more customers and one or two decide not to pay you on time or claim they did pay when you know they didnt then you replace them with more customers.

when you reach the stage where you cant take any more customers on then dump some who are PITA and replace with good customers. keep doing this for a time and you will have a load of well paid work and very little to moan about on here.

then you can go onto the non related section of this forum and take the micky out of Tosh and the rest of us on there. 8)
