Title: commercial quote HELP!
Post by: lee_dewing on January 17, 2012, 09:49:59 pm
Hi  all.

Just need to get a few opinions on quoting for block of flats.

Basically it's 50 flats in a block(s) on 3 levels, ground floor, 1st floor and 2nd floor. (windows white upvc)

I suppose 26 ft top floor as i can reach top floor with 22 clx.

It is a total of 168 windows.

Each flat has 2x 2 pane windows (standard kitchen window size) and 1x large window 6ft wide.

some flats have 3x 2 pane and 1x large window.

there are some landing windows and doors but just out of intrest how much would you charge?

thanks lee.

£150 - 3 windows @ £1 each x 50 flats sounds like a fair price to me

Hi  all.

Just need to get a few opinions on quoting for block of flats.

Basically it's 50 flats in a block(s) on 3 levels, ground floor, 1st floor and 2nd floor. (windows white upvc)

It will probably take you 2 minutes to clean the big windows and 1 minute to do the smaller ones. Count how many large ones by 2 minutes then how many smaller ones by one minute.
Then allow time for travel per person, setting up and how many times you might have to move your equipment or mess around dragging hoses round. Then find out the time.

So your quote might look like this:
(based on 50 flats)
50 X big windows x 2 minutes
118 smaller windows x 1 minute
Time equals 3hrs 38 minutes

Add your travel time there and back if its another city or something, make sure you account for two cleaners if there is two of you.

Add 10 minutes for set up and a minute for how many corners you have to navigate, stop and move equipment ( ususally a few minutes each time)

Then times this by your desired hourly rate and bobs your uncle!!

If your aiming at 30 per hour you should come in around approx £120.00. You will get the job well under and earn an honest crust too at £30 per hour.

Hope this helps

I forgot to mention that your first clean price will be more than that. You need to judge how dirty they are.

£4 a flat, they're half a house after all .

£100

:o wow I would deffo not do them for £2 per flat  ???, cheapest I'd go in at would be £5 per flat,  £5 x 50 flats=£250, or at a push I'd agree with AJ at £4 per flat = £200.

I think 1st go best part of a day 6 hrs.

(there are a few windows on landings(trad), wether internal windows and doors, to be confirmed).

could shave down to 9am - 2pm. (could maybe smash out quicker, but thats why residents got the ump with current windies (wfp), another up and down and a sweep of the sill can make all the difference considering mostly elderly residents with nothing to do; and all day to do it ;D

Was thinking £150.

I know some of you guys are up north,(price's vary) i live in essex on outskirts of east london where these flats are.

I don't want to go in too cheap and be a busy fool, i don't disagree with £200 figure.

Job will be 6 weeks, maybe somewhere inbetween £150 - £200.
Cheapest price wins but not that desperate.

Thanks very much everyone for your replies.

I'l let you know if i get it ;)

£450 plus vat, then its worth doing properly (and waiting up to 6 months to get paid)

It realy  is only worth doing this sort of work for good money.

so over £10 a flat. 6 monthly maybe, 6 weekly my price would be£3.50 x 50=£175 get it done in 3.5 hours.

We only work in London so our prices are probably dearer than some other parts of the UK.

The problem with this type of work is that someone will quote low and get the job and then do a naff job rushing it... The majority of tenants in the flats won't care, so not many will complain, and none fo the tenants have the say so on who has the job.

ok here is my rough quote...

4 wkly = £252

8 wkly = £315

12 wkly =£378

any less frequent will priced as a one off at £504

these prices are roughly however and are based upon the fact there is 168 windows and doors!

hope this help
