Whats the ideal person to employ to be a windae cleaner ??
I've got too much work and burning my self out up here in sunny scotland and i'm looking at employing some one part/ full time whats the most ideal person ??
i've got an advert in the job centre just now ::) but seems to be attracting muppets ..

it attracts muppets, as they all think they can do this job, last bloke i had, i wanted to punch every day, one lad i was going to employ keeps saying dont want job, then asking is it still there, but wants more money, and always gets a better job off just before he is due to start

on your own

A pulse is a good start.
I've never employed but it's one of those jobs where if you take on someone who is any good, they don't stick around as they start up on their own (hopefully without your customers) OR they don't crack on with the job and you have to always chase them. The gap in the middle of those two extremes is very small so you must be selective IMO. Someone who is reasonably fit, of fairly mature age, who hasn't got big financial responsibilities, can drive, isn't a drunk or an excessive drug user, whose only police record is either long ago or "Message in a Bottle" ("Walking on the Moon" will do), who is prepared to take a low basic and make his/her money up with graft, who doesn't have any interest in running their own business and who seems reasonably trustworthy.
If you find one let me know and I'll vote for him/her at the next election.

i often think about what stage i'd like to get my business to in the future... i keep thinking i want to be as big as possible and to one day employ but from alot of posts on here it seems like it can be alot of hassle to do this.. Granted there is people out there who are good workers and want to work hard for a living but they sound like there hard to come by. good luck anyway

i put ads out in post offices windows, then at least those applying show a tad of initiative and bottle to reply. iv gone thru no end of wasters (who talked the talk) before finding good workers , and all i ask is "whats your height, weight, shoe size, and name. for trad i find the ideal is 6ft+ tall, 13 stone MAX , size 8-12 shoe and a name is a bonus!
then give them a start trial day and go from there
As it happens at this very moment iv a new applicant texting me ,but i sense its a bad egg as they are shy about telling me their weight .
"but you dont tell me your weight and i cant take you on"
. whys that then? blah blah blah

There is plenty of people wanting jobs out there. You will just have to use your people skills in order to weed out the muppets. You will nknow them straight away.
I took on this guy who lasted a day, another who lasted 3 weeks but in all instances I was not happy with them. If they had not left then I would of made my excuses, got rid and moved to the next one.
Your looking for that initiative, that person who generally is looking for a job to feed there family. I took on someone evetually that has proven himself to be trust worthy and hard working.
I have now given him a van, email his work to him and bobs your uncle.
You WILL find the right person.

Seem to remember we didn't ask for that requirement and I'm pretty sure some who applied didn't have one!
