Title: Does You Agree or Not
Post by: ICS Cleaning on January 15, 2012, 07:41:38 pm
Do you think that the industry of some new and old window cleaners still say its my "Patch" is a thing of the past??? Id like your opinion from people all over the country.

Do you Think you own every one on that street even tho some may not want to use you.

Or

Are you happy to share a street where you both can work and make money.

My opinion is that out there its a free for all, first come first Serve. Im happy to work along side other window cleaners., and get to know other people in the industry.

Im sure Tesco dont ask Morrisons If they can set up in the town where Morrisons Trade, thats the same in our industry for most people some still use the word "Patch"  ;D

People are becoming more awear of window cleaners or other trades coming to there property. This is the world we live in today.

I have cleaned windows in a street where there are others. You do think "will he try nick my customer" but up to now it has never happened and in fact all the windys I've met we've got on well. I think we have mural respect for each other and realise we're all out to make a living

im happy to work alongside everyone life is what you make it and if you have become lazy in your area be prepared to face competition. I get on with all the cleaners in my area about 40 of them apart from two that seem to seperate themselfs from the rest of us,they are very old school check my post (anyone think this is bad)

I've never had a problem with other window cleaners working where I do, and in fact got on well with most that I have met. I have even encouraged others who asked about setting up to go for it. There are thousands of houses in every town, and one person can't do them all!

said it is any ones game. other than that not aware of 'patch' guy's,

and when ever someone does a leaflet drop or canvas it seems to get me
work, puts it in there mind i spose,  and i am a proven service, recommended
an all that,

Thankyou for your feed back windys, and i think the same really looking to earn a great living enjoying what i do. I would agree that there are so many houses in one town for all to go around.... Id be happy having 300 paying customer between £6 and £20 for there houses to be cleaned. 300 houses in my area can be 4 street or estates. So i agree plenty to go around.

Cheers  ;D

one of the members on here is from burnley i think. he reckons there are patches up there. so i imagine windies have to fight eachother over areas  ;D i would crack up laughing if i ever saw something like that. been threatened a couple of times by cavemen before. never bothered me.

theres enough wars on in the world without fighting over patch's! like most have said theres plenty of work for everyone and as long as people aren't directly targeting other windys customers knowing there undercutting them then i dont see why we shouldnt all profit together  ;D

I enjoy talking to other window cleaners myself. I have had a guy and I think I know who he was and he looked a mess, his kit was knackered and his ladders had about 6 inches of metal worn from the bottom of each foot who did big commercial jobs by me. One day after investing in a van, water fed pole system and proper brochures I went round the business park and handed them out. I got a phone call from the guy kicking off, swearing at me and telling me he was going to end my life if we met. With me being the quiet, withdrawn type I politely asked him where he was at the time to which he wouldn't reply. I offered to meet him to buy him a brew but he declined. I picked a job up on there and immediately went round and re-leafleted the estate. I have since lost a job on the estate due at the time to me spending all my time working as a subby and letting my own work down to a firm round the corner from me called window clean direct. At the end of the day I was slack and was letting my customers down so I lost them. I have no hard feelings it just teachs you a lesson in how to look after your work. Business is a big learning curve and I find the only people who should be worried about loosing work is the ones who aren't putting the effort in. At times I've put the effort in and reaped the rewards and at other times I've been lazy and chased the quick buck and lost out because of it but one things for certain I don't ever believe that I own a patch but I try to make sure I'm the best window cleaner on that patch.
