Title: Rotovav the Pros / Cons
Post by: Mark Stanley on December 19, 2005, 01:55:32 pm
Now I have seen the add - The chap holding a cup of coffee / tea whilst operating a CC machine with a Rotavac attached - But rearly how practical is this tool - is it worth the cost - and is the clean that much better - why would you buy one, or not as the case maybe?

 :D :D :D  MERRY CHRISTMAS  :D :D :D

I use one very occasionally but usually find that using a good pre spray, plenty of agitation and rinsing with the wand suffices.

I was surprised to hear that Rotovac's don't extract.
Is there  one that does?

i have never used the rotovac so dont know how it compares,
but i do have have a extracta scrubba delux and swear by it i use it on every job, my wand hasnt been out of the van in over 2months, much much better results than with a normal wand and i dont aggitate manually i leave that to the scrubba i just pre-spray and then clean.

Might be worth you looking into also cheaper than the rotovac (i have heard the rotovacs better though from people on this site)

I was under the impression that you could use the basic Rotovac to aggitate/

I thought i read it on the ultimate master instructions.

Could be wrong.

Whats it like in domestic propertys

will it clean up to the skirting board without chipping paint ?

what about doorways ?

I always use in domestic, (that is why I bought it, NOT to sit in van) skirting board and doorways use hand tool to get up close as I was taught!!

With Rotovac I clean upto an inch away from the afore said.

John
the reason i asked is most of my work is domestic, although getting/working at getting more and more commercial, to be honest i use my wand to get tight up to the skirting boards ect, right or wrong, mastered and habbit,
the rotovac is starting to wet my appetite as i know its fine for commercial, needed to know how you carry on with domestics, the labour saving/less strain on the back is what attracts me to it,some of the other similiar machines in its class look really cumbersome especialy for domestics were as the rotovac does not, need to see it in the skin and try i think.

I now can't wait to start cleaning again after the holiday using my Rotovac, having used it on the college job last week.I acheived the best result yet in the 9 months that I have been cleaning, and now I can't imagine why I ever wanted to sell the Rotovac ??? ???
However now I am going to use it all the time are there any carpets that should not be cleaned with a Rotovac?
I found that the Advantage needed to be filled and emptied more frequently than with using the wand, but this is a good trade off for the superb results it produced. It removed a heavy traffic lane easily ;D ;D

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Babara,

Although you used more solution did it extract it aswell. Ie was your waste tank as full as if you used the same amount  of cleaning solution using a wand.

Ian,
Yes,I would say that I was getting as much if not more into the waste tank, but using more solution due to the 6 jets in Rotovac. However as I use ultimate master 2 scoops per full tank is a minimal cost.

Barbara

The answer to using more solution is to fit smaller jets, they were fitted in my Rotovac whan I got it for that reason, but I have gone back to the originals.

Hi John,
Yes,I don't mind the extra filling and emptying of porty when I am getting such an excellent result compared to the wand ;D
Also do you know which carpets you should not use the R/V on?

Thanks Barbara

Barbara, Question. Smaller jets - less water consumption & higher pressure. What was the reason for changing back to original size?

carful using on wool carpets as it will void the warranty in some cases, remember, a carpet isnt designed to be cleaned the way these machines do so.

I have had a Rotovac for about four years and would not like to be without it,
as it  is musterd for certain jobs, and can take a lot of the hard work out.
But saying that you cannot use it on some carpets ie Berbers for example,
So i would say that i still use a wand for about 70% of the time, same old story
its better to have more equipment, one day you might need it.

                                      Take Care John
