After a busy September, October and being rushed off my feet for most of November I was gearing myself up for a really busy December. It hasn't quite happened though as the phone just seemed to stop ringing and I can't quite work out why. All my leaflets have been going out as they always do but its just completely dead.
I'm still in my first years trading but I was kind of expecting this to be the busiest part of the year.
Anyone else experiencing a quiet december?
-
yeah im the same, have taken my holidays early, although would rather be working,
I put it down to a mistake in my marketing a couple of weeks ago, but am still out there deliveing them by hand and still the phone doesnt ring, so ive come to the conclusion that the cornish have just got short arms and deep pockets this christmas, few others down here seem quiet too :(
-
Yes Jay you are right, seems to be one week one one week off at the moment (all or nothing)
Don't think it's a case of deep pockets though i think people are spent out. Too much credit during the property boom!
Doesn't seem like christmas at the moment! Even truro seems relatively normal and the traffic is normal too, normally the traffic is manic at christmas time in truro!
People just don't have the money this year!

They must of all moved back to the 1st home in Surrey/Hampshire as it is very bust here.
Been booked out this week since that first week in Dec. Still getting calls for before Christmas now.
Hope it picks up for you in January. Ive only got one job booked at the moment so watching nervously.
Get those leaflets out between Xmas and New Year as the first week can be good after New Year then it seems to die until mid Feb
Cheers

Also quiet down here this week, last week very busy but now the phone has stopped ringing, this doesn't surprise me in the least, as people have done their decorating, got their carpets cleaned, hopefully by me, and have now decorated their houses with all the Christmas trimmings.
So the last thing they want is us carpet cleaners coming in and knocking the decorations of the Christmas tree, so now is the time to service your machines, and van's, and have everything ready for the new year.
To date I have two jobs for the new year, but it's nice to have something to go back to, I suppose I will have two humble myself and post some leaflets, but I daresay the exercise will do me good, and burn of the excess fat accumulated over the Christmas period. Have a nice one Ted

;D lol well thats very kind of u pile and a merry xmas and new year to u
-
Hi Guys,
I'm busy all week but then I have been all year.
I think this Xmas boom thing can be a bit of a myth as although you get very busy weeks it's effectively a 3 week month.
Jan has been as busy as Dec for me in the last few years.
Enjoy Xmas and then work hard at securing work in Jan.
Cheers
Doug

Its not all doom and gloom guys, look to the future and smile.
Although I did hear a rumour that the government have now passed a new law regarding carpets and the HSE are just finalising things. Its something like - all carpets are to be banned for the domestic home, cloth upholstery is also to be banned and substituted for wooden benches, carpets are to be changed to sea grass.
The government have also urged the pubic to spit and verbally abuse anyone who works within the carpet cleaning industry.
A large fire has been organised during net November to burn every carpet in the UK, Carpet and Upholstery cleaners are to be thrown on top and culled.
Merry Christmas

It doesent feel like Christmas at all. I havent even had to move any trees yet. Even seeing them is almost a rarity.
Busiest December ever. Stopped taking December bookings from new customers 2 weeks ago. Phone stopped ringing last week though.
Have a good one.

I've not been quiet, but nor have I been as busy as previous, I've managed to fit everyone in and not turned anyone away yet.
Got final two jobs to do on Friday morning then it's off for a pint at lunchtime, with the lads.
Two commercial jobs (offices) booked in for over the holidays, but other than that I'm taking the time off, back to work proper on the 4th Jan.
Merry Christmas & a prosperous New Year to all.

Dont mean to be rude but thats why you are not busy because you are aiming at a target market for dry only.
Dry only customers think ahead and want a service that can be clean and dry so they can put up xmas trees etc :),
Trust me been and done that they want dry but dont want C-D prices
I have done jobs this week and have customers book for Jan 06 for other work due the service i give them.
Also i have customers that i done in sept, oct and nov, that have said just put me in your book for the same time next year just call me the week before.
ive been at this game for six years and in the last year ive just worked out what its all all about
LOOK AND YOU SHALL FIND THE ANSWERS
One happy carpet cleaner soon to be T/M
FEEL IT LUKE ITS WITHIN YOU!

Hi
Hey! I do have a bath, a sponge bath ;)
Actually most of my clients are LA's, but going into YP on the 1st of Jan for the 1st time, so looking forward to that response over the coming year.
So hopefully with my existing (very happy, chuffed, amazed) clients plus YP and leaflets i should not know which way is up?
