I am still looking into going over to WFP. I managed to get a friend to measure the TDS of our tap water and it varies between 140 and 150.
I'm asking does that mean I have to get an RO unit or can I just use DI?
To answer my own question:
I think, after reading much good advice on this forum, that I can use just DI but it will work out more expensive in the long run.
I am thinking that I'll need to be fitting an RO unit in my home to produce the water, with or without a DI unit attached? then pump it into a removable (need van for other work quite often) tank in the van ready to be pumped to pole. Do I need another ''polisher?'' DI on the van prior to final outlet?
Thanks again for any info and opinions.

Yes, if using DI only you'll be going through resin at a tremendous rate

And don't connect it to that outside tap whatever you do. ;D

i was talking to a chap this morning he told me he produces pure water in his shed, told me he charges £1 to fill a 25lt barrel, is this good. if just using trolley or back pack for tops only.

I'd say! £10 for 250 L
No messing filling up changing resign
Or buying ro...
Not bad at all mate

Why not connect to an outside tap?

my tap water is around 150, i use a 300 gallon per day ro unit... it brings the reading to 00.00
ro is is the van , tank in the van... simply link to outside tap and let it fill overnight.

Thanks for replies. With an RO unit in the van, am I correct in saying that there is a lot of waste water that has to be disposed of?
-
50/50 .......thin blue hose goes straight into the tank, pure.... the red hose goes straight into the drain.

I wouldn't say resin only would work out hugely more expensive, 150 isn't massively high for resin only (below 100 would be better.)
if your on a meter could have benefits going resin only, no waste water, quick filling, can fill from customers too if needed.
I would now always go RO route tho, if gonna b window cleaning long term wfp might as well commit to it and get the proper kit if can afford to.
-
DI only would work out very expensive if you used say 350-400L A DAY.my tap tds is 35 and i go through around 2-3 bags a year.
so around £200-£250 a year for purifying my water which isnt too bad.yours would be way more expensive.gardiners have a resin calculator.input your tds and see how much roughly it would be!
-
it would cost you £1300 a year if you used 6000L A MONTH over 10 months of the year with a tds of 150.with a 25L BAG costing £80.
an RO is a must i think!!

Not that tremendous, you could live with it but It would be a pain. What I am saying is its not completely beyond possibility. Financially its affordable, the bigger drag would be having to keep changing the resin. But I have discussed it with a mate who has nowhere to put a RO.
