Title: tds meter

just recieved my tds meter to test my water,    am i right in thinking you turn it on,  place a bit of water in cap,   place meter in to cap,   wait for 10 seconds then press the hold button and await for reading to show,   this will let me know which units i need to purify,     if its hard or soft water.   virgin to wfp

put water in a cup turn on meter stick it in water the reading should come up in seconds. no need to press hold.

if i just leave it in water it reads 104    without pressing the hold button

next step is to how to purify my water  ,  what equipment i will need.  this is all new to me. now on to stage 2,   all advice is really apreciated,  thanks.

I'm sure you have to turn the meter on and wait for around 30 sec's before taking a reading, then you only submerge the meter so far into the the water.

Mine has a distinguishable area to submerge.
