where can I get some decent quality 1/4 quick connectors? Having tried various sources including using Ebay the quality is shocking. They just dont seem to last
-
If they keep failing/leaking... might be something to do with your rinse chemical?
I do know what you mean though. Generally I've found that the ones with the totally smooth collars on them are absolute crap, whereas the ones with the knurled collars seem to be the better quality ones.
I change my brass ones every so often. I keep saying I'm going to swap over to stainless but always seem to find something more important to spend my pocket money on :)

You want Hanson or Snaptite (made in USA)
Alltec and Hydramaster do these makes, is this not an obvious place to look anyway?
Buy cheap and you end up with the chinese rip off ones going about, they won't last and they'll leak.
-
hanson are the best,
i was told that no one wants to pay for quality QCs any more.... so they are forced to sell cheap chinese copies which are half the price of hansons.
I buy 20 pairs whenever I'm in the states.
-
The better ones are the ones with stainless steel internal valves the cheaper ones are all brass.
-
That's a shame if that is happening, if the supplies of the good ones do dry up think il buy a batch from the US. It'll probably work out pretty good price anyway cus they are cheaper there and that'll make up for the cost of post.
-
we use stainless you can get them from the states for about $30 a set last for years look at www.realcleaners.com/quick_connects.html
-

last time we got a quote for ss from Guysons they wanted £90 a set + the vat
so got them from the States. - much cheaper even with the customs duty and postage.
-
just been looking at these. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110483201509?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 I have had stuff from him before and quality is top notch. Might give these ones a try

As it says on realcleaners.com site it's worth getting the males in stainless steel as they take a beating so will last longer, which I can confirm
Females only last as long as the seals I find so may as well get them in brass save money.
-
Common sense but try and avoid ever dragging the male connectors over paving etc when winding your hoses up. Always hold the male connector end and wind from there. Littles nicks in the brass is what damages the seals on the female connectors and also cause leaks on the male side.
-
Actually that's never crossed my mind that nicks in the male would damage the seals in the female - Good point.
-
we've had issues before using connectors of the same size that are different makes/metals not fitting together properly so now we make sure they are all the same
-
Jon I ve had that too and it was a Chinese one, must be there tolerances.
It's most likely someone in this country would have commissioned a Chinese company to make these for a fast buck! rather than a Chinese company starting up with a long term plan to supply these worldwide if it were the latter they might stamp their name to it have pride in the quality of their product and a longer term view.
Chinese need to learn to make decent stuff instead of a fast buck!
Dont get me started on the motor bikes they are making! :(

thats why you want a triumph!
-
My female on the machine's been dripping for ages
might get round to it eventually.
Can't you just replace o rings?
John
-
you can get the o rings [imperial sizes] or the inserts. trouble is that the springs are of different strength [they get weaker with age]this is why we always mark them with different colour paint so we know were we are. otherwise you can trouble with water flowthrough the quick connectors [Hanson and Parker are the best makes that have found]

John thats been dripping for ages, buy a new connector. ;D
-
Got 2 spares just a matter of doing it.
It's not that bad and machine is always outside.

Amazing little things like this can have on customers perception of your business. If they looked outside and seen a leak on the machine it can lead to negativity in some peoples minds. Get ya spanners out ;D
