Title: Which van?
Post by: CraigBlues on January 10, 2012, 05:48:25 pm
Right van purchasing time, been keeping an eye out but now I really need to pull my finger out.

So the choices I have.... (open to suggestion though)

Citroen Berlingo
Citroen Berlingo Multispace
Peugeot Partner
Citroen Dispatch
Ford Transit Connect
Vauxhall Viaro

Too much choice, do i go for a big van or a little van. Hmmm.

Help please.

what sort of work do you do, what amount per day, do you employ people.
this would vary your van choice

are you thinking of going wfp anytime soon ?
if not you only need an astra/belingo imo
Transit size is ott for a trad cleaner.

if you thinking going wfp which I would defo recomend I would go for a trnasit/vivaro due to the amount of water you will need to take

the transit connect is a very popular choice, nice size and carry decent payload (up to 750kg i think).

I have a volkswagen caddy, looks the biz, pretty reliable (even though expensive to buy in the first place), has 750kg payload, i can legally carry up to 400 litres, all my kit and a passanger.

What van would do for me? At the moment just traditional gear, but wanting to get a backpack, pole and few barrels for water. Recently bought an estate but the WFP gear isnt going to fit  >:( Wish I would of listened to what was said on here and not bothered with the estate....

with a 900kg payload and yet easy to park around town u cant really look further then the 230 connect with about 70k miles on maybe an 04 with roof rack and bulk head u should pay 3k for it. maybe a bit more.

T330 have a higher payload get twin battery and you can run pumps all day from it, no need to charge battery up daily or spilt charge :)

Combo is an excellent window cleaners van esp for trad - will take 400 ltr tank when you take up wfp
altho i would reccomend you have a static ro system and IBC and fill van from this

for what it's worth moved onto an LDV Maxus LWB h/r  - 3.5 tonne  - 1650 payload - 1000 ltr tank

and some days could still do with more space.... :o

Too much choice, fnding a good one at the right price too.

If it were me i would buy the one of the medium sized vans, simple because if you change or things change you will have the room/payload to handle it without buying another van

Plus i have a Vivaro as +1 for them

Narrowed down to Berlingo, transit and Viaro. But think only the first too are in my budge as want less than 100k and a reasonable age.

Not sure where you're based but if you work in any congestion charge zone check the new rules first.

If your looking at a combo go for the higher payload, I've just got rid of mine as the coil springs couldn't take the load ( 400 lt )  and kept breaking . Bought a new fiat scudo

What  about a Fiat Doblo Cargo?

I got one which was just 3 years old- 1.3TD, twin sliding doors, 730kg payload, fully ply lines, roof bars, remote alarm/central locking, FSH, mint condition for £3250 no vat. ;)

Sounds good, do they have parking sensors?!
