Title: RO flow restrictor question
Post by: pure tech on January 09, 2012, 08:04:32 pm
Can anyone tell me how a Flow 550 flow restrictor to suit 100gpd membranes works?
It is listed at 1:3  but does that alter if you add further membranes?
ie with 2 membranes it would be 1 part production to 2 parts waste and with 3 membranes would it be 1:1?
Thanks

yOU NEED TO CHANGE IT EVERY TIME YOU ADD A MEMBRANE.

The more membranes in series the lower the waste will be.I would say a booster pump is a must.

Thanks for that.
I actually have the original Flow 550  on my  300gpd 3 membrane RO and it has always produced at 1:1 until very recently.
It is now producing at about 70% product to 30% waste.
Apparently this is bad for the membranes.
I was just wanting to know if a new 550 100gpd (3:1) Flow Restrictor would run at 1:1 on my RO.
Thanks
