Title: Technique Videos WFP and Trad
Post by: VSP Home Care on January 08, 2012, 10:25:29 pm
I'm sure there are a few of us newbie's to the game, that always wonder how other's might go about the business.  So I thought it might be handy to have a video thread for the do's and do not's of our trade.

This is my opener, seems ok advice although I think most of us would be on the second or third job by the time those windows were half dry.  But I do like the way he cleans so I thought I'd post it.

Pick holes with his technique if you like, that's what the thread is for  :)

i had my first complaint today about spotting on the windows (wfp for 4 months), is his tip about rinsing an inch from the top something that a lot of people do? i normally clean above the window, and then rinse from above the window as well.  should i just rinse from an inch below the frame?
cheers

Not on the ups...his advice was leave the dirt on the window and aloud the water to absorb the dirt (only 2 scrubs)

Great thread, enjoyed watching that video too. Really want to have a go with a WFP now, looks more professional IMO.

Anyone else got any examples they would like to post, I watched a few dozen on their last night and if I can remember what they were I'll post a few, one was definitely AJD from Portsmouth and I'm sure he's a reg on here.

Personally I find watching someone is a damn good way to learn, that's what I'm intending here, I'm sure there's a million different ways to do the job.  My only tip has to be that poop flows down hill, I start at the tops, then follow down the frames before doing the glass, then rinse the lot  ;D

going over windows twice is pointless waste of energy takes far to long
and was he advocating cleaning the sill first wasnt sure on that one
if he was that big no no fars as im concerned.

i simply scrub top and sides of frames rinse till water runs clear
go over windows a couple of times the rinse well following the water down
then clean off bottom section of frames and scrub sill rinsing till
water runs clear or no bits falling of sill.

if bits dont stop coming off obviously there is a lot of crap inbetween
frame and cill and crap cant get stuck in corners so like adders
will wrap towel round brush head and rub dry.

windows clean and no waiting around for a second attempt

cleaning the sill first is wrong IMO.

if UPVC like the ones in adders video then i

scrub and rinse top frames really well  a few times

then side frames

then scrub and rinse glass and bottom of frame followed by a good scrub and rinse of the sill.job done.

i certainly wouldnt wait for the window to dry a bit then clean again!

i use a constant high flow for first cleans with a stronger bristled brush if the frames are filthy(like the dt sl mono).

Why does everybody clean the frames first, just clean the frames as you clean the glass and stop wasting time,I scrub the frames as I do the glass and a good rinse to finish, sod that cleaning the frames and moving on to the next window to do the frames then back to the previous window to do the glass!!!! WTF

i thought you were questioning that others were cleaning
the frames on all the windows first then going back to clean
glass.

i wondered who you were on about because i hadnt seen that

this made me luagh out load  ;D

@ slash i think youve misunderstood mate.

i dont think many do the frames then move on to the next window frame only to have to come back to do the glass on the previous window, i think what most do (me included) is go round the frames first then do the glass if you get my drift?

On a first clean I will go over the glass a second time. So scrub the top windows on the front, then go back to the first one, brush the glass only and rinse.

i used to do this until i realised its not necessary! but i do go round and have a look to see if theres any runs then go over the glass if needed
