Title: old paint on concrete removal
Post by: Ged on December 15, 2005, 07:28:39 am
Hi all

Can anyone tell me what's the best way to remove old paint from concrete and brick? did a drive clean yesterday and thought i'd have a go at removing some old paint spots. tried pressure washer+ turbo on  paint spots on concrete drive with partial success. then wire brush plus dergreaser/ solvent, v.hard work. Is it necessary to use a paint stripper or do you think a heat gun would do the trick.

I was approached by a local estate office earlier this year, told there may be work cleaning paint off brick work on their properties next year so i need to find out about this sooner or later.

any advice please.

regards

Hi Ged,

We would use a dry aggregate grit blase and silica-free olivine grit. As long as you're pretty savvy with pressure gear and use grit, not shot, you'll be fine.

Hope this helps.

Id go for a paint stripper every time followed by hot pressure wash.
It works for me.
