Title: Personal Accident and Sickness Insurance?
Post by: Chris R on January 05, 2012, 05:35:42 pm
Hello,
I am looking to take out some personal accident and sickness insurance cover and I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction?
The company that used to advertise on here (gleaming insurance) no longer offer this type of cover.
Thanks
Chris

Do a lot of research and read the small print very, very carefully, they are like eels getting out of things and will not pay if they can possibly help it. I think there was something done by Which? and they can usually be found in the public library.

Having looked at the Which? site it reinforces my comment above and says that they can be poor value and not payout when you need it.
It is a minefield.

Hi Cancelled mine  last year

apperently you had to be  off work for more than 10 weeks before policy takes effect.
this is common practice on these policys

if you take one out be carfull to read small print

same as mark posted and put some money away every week or month in an account..

You will get a nice sum if you do start that saving plan..

I'm not a fan of them, life insurance yes but really these polices are another sort of PPI.

sim to paul i have a big policy for life cover  ( dont tell the mrs ) . trouble is with most of the accident medical cover is it does not cover much tbh unless your willing to pay a high premium. like others have said stick some wonga in a sep account to help you out short term  or marry someone with a good job  like me lol

Save by buying Premium Bonds every month.
One small win will more than match any interest
you can earn from savings plans. You can cash
some in should you need the money, and you
never know you might just drop lucky, and win
a large amount.

Premium bonds have been proven to be a very poor investment vehicle , a bit like "investing "in the lottery.

Far better to pick the very best savings rates you can find on the high street ,and save your premums there , preferably in the name of a non taxpayer that you may know, like a child , non worker etc.
