Title: Carpet Protector Charges
Post by: garry22 on January 03, 2012, 11:18:43 am
Just wondered what people charged per square metre for protector only (no cleaning involved).

Thanks.

£3 sq mtr apply only, £2 if cleaning, if applying only the carpet needs damping down prior to application with an acidic water based product.
If applying after clean always rinse with an acidic product.

Thanks Mark,

I was thinking £ 3.00 too. It's a long time since I did a protect only job.

Would imagine it depends on what protector
you use as some are twice as much money as
others.
I use Protect Nano and charge £1.50 or £1.00
if cleaning with a minimum charge of £25.
At 350sq m for 5 litres it works out well and costs
£45 for 5litres which when mixed gives 10 litres of
finished product.

That's interesting John.

Even at the minimum coverage, the price is very reasonable.

When customers buy a new carpet or suite they dont mind paying £100+ for protector so i feel as if im still offering good value for money at what i charge.

Do you get many new carpets and suites to
do Mark.
Every protection job I've done, only 14 in 3.75
years, as been an old carpet cleaned and re
protected.
Never been asked to protect a new one.

Im looking to push protector a lot more this year, im about to buy some stainguard info leaflets from Ashbys to leave with the customer, does anyone know if any other suppliers/manufactuers produce a marketing leaflet? all I can find is ashbys.

Get a wool Carpet Sample and protect one half and leave the other half untreated.
Then when you arrive to clean, pour a glass of water down the sample and offer the service.
Best way of converting.

John, if a customer ever mentions to me their intentions to buy a new carpet or fabric or leather suite in the future, then I always inform them that I can apply a better protector at half the price of the manufacturer etc...  I've had quite a lot of new carpets and suites to protect as a result of this.
