Do you run a fleet of vans ???

I get the gist of this but dont fully understand, do you run a cleaning biz from home, are they attaching these charges to your biz rather then any particular property as they said "your home or a unit" ?.
Thats a 240% increase !!!!!!!!!!

Hi, we are based in Northern Ireland. We carry one stand pipe for the hydrants in each van. The stand pipes have a meter on them and someone from the water board comes every six months to read the meter. We are charged 81 pence for every 1000 litres. Our water rates at base are not effected by it at all.
Hope this helps.

Not sure I fully understand but here goes.
If you are using water for business you should be paying business rates on that water wheather at home or at unit.
As Skid sugests a stand pipe licence is very cost effective but no good if you are then puting water through Ro or DI as this would be double handling.
We use 1600ltrs per day from our unit we have no water meter.
The water board keep coming and saying they want to fit a wter meter because it will save us money. We keep saying no thanks.
In Scotland the situation is all new build get Water meters but older buildings they can not force you to get meter so we just keep saying no and pay the standard water usage for the number of employees on site.
We also dispose of the 1600ltrs per day on site to foul sewer we have a consent to discharge because of the low volume we do not get charged.
Good luck
