Post by: Scott Dean on December 31, 2011, 07:03:35 pm
I know this may be a huge long shot with nearly everyone opting for the diesel heaters but, i really need to replace the standard gas cylinder thats supplying my Hotwash for a refillable LPG one im just wondering who has what ones as there are so many to choose from...

Looked at twin 6kg versions and single 11kg from: -
Gaslow,
Autogas 2000
Gas It
Safefill

Happy New Year....  ;D ;D ;D

Safe fill looks like a good idea - although you may find some garages get a panick attack if you try to fill the gas bottles at the LPG point, so if you are thinking along DIY refillable lines then it may be a good idea to speak to the garage where you would fill up and see what their policy is before you outlay £150.00.

The LPG rule was very strict for LPG conversions on cars. The tank inlet and outlet pipes need to be covered with a sealed housing that directs any gas leak outside the boot. These tanks could only be filled from a filler mounted outside of the car. It is against the law to have a filler inside the boot of the car as this is very dangerous.

So it's little wonder that garage owners are very sensitive to incorrect use of their LPG fillers.

I've got a Safefill. Haven't had a problem with the petrol station. Mainly because I open the backdoors, put the bottle on the floor and put the gun on it. No one even sees it. If they do and kick up a fuss I will kindly point to where it says safefill, and tell them it's safe.

Why are you guys going for refillable? Easy enough to change a bottle over surely?

My local Flogas supplier charges me £22 for a 6kg Butane cyclinder (giving you about 4.8kg of gas as you only get 80%), so at about £11ish for 16ltrs of LPG (about 8.5kg) in the Safefill its a quick return in revenue...
