I didn't think it was either however the customer has been advised by a third party that it was harmful, so I thought, better be safe than sorry !

Post by: alanwilson on December 29, 2011, 04:09:00 pm: self cleaning glass is normally a coating of titanium dioxide (TiO2) - photocatalysis (breaking down of dirt using sunlight) and hydrophilicity (where the contact angle of water to glass is greater than 160degrees, allowing the water to run off taking the broken up dirt with it)

titania (titanium dioxide) is almost completely inert and will not react with deionised water.

self cleaning glass can be made with a polymer coating which can be cleaned off with di water but none of th major manufacturers actually use this method.

Why? 'Self cleaning' is just a name for it. It doesn't mean it cleans itself, it just stays cleaner.
Don't buy any Sealskinz, then ;D.
