Title: Payloads and tanks?
Post by: Inskip1991 on December 28, 2011, 12:16:11 pm
I am just wondering what the required payloads are for different size tanks because I am not sure what van to get, for example, what is the payload for a 400 litre tank, 500 litre, 650 litre etc?

Any help would be appreciated, cheers.

yes but bear in mind your payload, and amount of water you end up being able to carry is completely different.

my vw caddy has 750kg payload. but I can only really have 400/450 litres of water by time take extra stuff/diesel/gear/passenger weight into consideration.

Do you think its ok to have a 500 litre tank in a 800kg van? No passengers or roofrack/ladders, just a pole.

That might be tight.  Remember your own body weight has to be counted too.  That is probably anything between 75 and 105 kilos depending on your build.  I usually reckon on 500kg above the water weight - but I'm overweight and tend to carry a few extra tools, spare leisure battery etc.  Also, I reckon it's not great for the van being loaded close to maximum all the time.

Should be fine. More than some on here allow. Generally if you allow 300kg for the payload over the size of tank and do not carry a passenger you will be OK.

Only use a static site tank and put pure direct into your tank or carry  double the weight.OR half will have to go through the van ro+ di.
