Title: Back wash ?????

would i be right in thinking..... Its just turning the tap head so all the water that flows through, just goes straight out too waste? & you run it like that for about 10 mins ???  :-\ your advice please, if im really barking up the wrong tree  :-\

I have a 40/40 and I flush this weekly for about an hour with the booster pump on.

WEEKLY  :o ive been running mine a month & aint dont it yet  :( i know what im doing tomorrow ;D

i think what your describing is "flushing" and "back washing" is something else! anyone correct me/elaborate on this please!

i flush the ro for 30 mins every week but i still havnt got my head around backwashing yet!

Supposed to flush weekly, for like an hour or something.

I had mine going for several months without real flushing and tds didnt rise  :-\ , but apparently little and often is the best, i try to do mine for 10 to 15 minutes every week.  Or thats the plan.  Just as important is looking after your prefilters, changing them regularly.

Flushing is flushing your RO unit on full waste.

Backwash is regenerating your water softener resin with salt.

Thats the way i understand it.

I flush my RO for about 5 -10 minutes on full waste every time I make 1000 litres of pure which is roughly once a week. I regenerate my water softener after making 1000 litres of pure also.

never backwashed in 7 years Ive had my system as Ive never had loose resin !!!!!! infact never done nothing to it only change filters about once every 14 months as I got sediment filter carbon filter and a sealed di filter { omnipole set up } the bollox mighten I say Mr Bones !!!

Just wanted to say the only thing I flush is the toilet aint that right mr bones !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-*

I had a backwash last night while having a bath. I definately can confirm you don't need the tap full on to have a back wash.
