just sticking my nose in here but if i turned up to a job and was then told not to clean anymore (including the clean due that day) they would be getting billed appropriately for wasting my time and fuel.

I can see where you're going with this but we do over 300 a week all in various towns across the mids and north west,
They all add up. Even the little 4/5quiders.
Dean.

what i don't understand is why window cleaners will take on this work as subbies from nationals? Is the rate of pay not crap in comparison to what the cleaner would earn with his own work?

If you can get 50quid+ on each high street then you're onto a winner. They can be done in any weather, most are weekly so its regular and they only take minutes to clean.
-
yes dean u got the man power/subbies to handle it good it works for you.
to be honest i still wouldnt really do it because i found my self tied down to them each week , and as my work went to different areas i found my self loosing money on houses cos i had to always be at the shop for 9 am every monday when it made more sence to be in a different part of london for 9 am thus i could clean more houses the shops were good while i was expanding but its all about houses ,
i find it much easyer to clean 2 £25 houses
no messing about with undercutters shops leaving over some daft £1 less price
no messing with nats
oh and what the hell , they want an invioce for £5 lol? one of them asked me i told her if she wants a record for her tax she can pay me by cheque or online i will not be invoicing you for £5 its a joke and a waste of paper!
they just need a reality check sometimes!

Yeh and looking at the job when they leave, you can see they have only taken a minute to do! ;D

Done the job and got paid, that was last clean. If I turned up to be told not to clean, then I too would of billed them for it

I would of given an invioce if I turned up, if they did't pay, the bill would of gone to head office, which means the manager wouldn't of been doing his job properly by not contacting his suppliers.
Other jobs i do, if they are booked in at a certain time and no one is there I still invoice and GET PAID. For instance most the whetherspoons pubs I do, I will clean outsides before their turn up at 6am, if they are not there by 6.20am I go and they still get payed, I don't have time to hang around for anyone.

Right up until they fail to pay you on time or go to someone cheaper.

i think it only works if u got staff/subbies.
but end of the day i know one man makes more splashing and dashing houses not driving from post code to post code or street to street to trad a bunch of £5 shops then get told sorry ive gone national
ive had over 15 at one point
im not a fan of shops ! ;D
the worse thing is if monday is a right off u need to always be there or if you are working say 5 miles away u still need to be there!

Is it worth clubbing together and winning these big contracts that are Nationals as one group like a Co-Operative??
