Think you have put me off for life, about getting Trafic/vivaro Gavs.
Think i will stick with Expert/Dispatch when its time to upgrade mate.
Anyway sorry to hear that mate,If anyone deserves some good luck, with vans, its you!
-
Is it exactly the same problem you had on the Renault?
-
About a grand I reckon, just had a clutch done on my combo and that wasn't cheap did need a flywheel as well though
-
£1000 fitted i reckon,it comes as a set,concentric slave cylinder,clutch and dual mass flywheel.
-
didnt you have massive problems that nearly bankrupted you with a vivaro? and now you've bought another one??
-
Looks like 07 platers are just as bad Gav!! :o
-
Did bring a chuckle and a tear to my eyes mate, all aside feel for you buddy
-
Not good Gav think the scooter I will go on hold :'(

Wise choice of van ;)

no m8 ad every thing else bar this
wiv the trafic
this is a slave cylinder for the clutch
which is in the worse place possible
buried inside the bell housing which means gearbox out
to get to it >:( would be stupid to not replace the clutch at this time
as all the labour is done doing a little part like the slave :( :(
-

That cost me a bit over £600 a couple of years ago. That was 75,000 miles in. Hopefully this one will do another 75,000 (will probably outlast the van).

Absolutely. Clutch and slave done together. If the clutch fails due to slip rather than slave, always do the slave too.
Funny story. I took mine back afterwards because it sounded terrible. Really loud. Turned out the rubber bit by the pedal hadn't been replaced properly ;)

You should just drive it without the clutch, couldn't do any more damage than you do with the clutch.
I once drove a Nissan Almera from Peterborough to the NEC, then for 3 days between the NEc and Aston (through spaghetti junction), then back to Peterborough without using the clutch once. It was also fully loaded with 5 people all the time.
I won a £50 bet for doing, but I bet the hire company wouldn't have been as happy as I was. ;D

toyota hiace 2.5td wiv twin barn doors ;D
-
its well known that carrying a lot of weight like a big tank of water puts enormous strain on the clutch on vans.i dont know where you take vans for repairs but ive never paid more than £400 for any repair whether its a new clutch or anything else in 23 years of driving.most cars/vans ive had have been at least 9-10 years old as well.
best wishes gav and hope you get it sorted soon.

Is it definately the clutch slave cylinder gone ? Because the clutch master cylinder is the common fault on the 56 plate and above, and its the least hassle to fix.
Having mine done at moment, my symptons were the clutch pedal wasn't coming right back up on its own, the last inch you had to pull up with your toe.
Master cylinder £22.00 from vauxhall and fitting £75 from one of my customers who is a mechanic.
If it is the slave do the clutch while the gearbox is out, it extra but it will be worth doing.
