Evening folks, anyone got one of these beasts? I was just window shopping like you do, and noticed the closed length of 6'3" and wondered how hard it might be to ship up and down if your a little on the shorter side. I'm 5.10 and think I might struggle with that.
As a guide to building height I always look on it as around 10' per floor, so I would guess you should be able to hit the third floor comfortably with the 48.
I've only got the slx 25 at the moment but would certainly be interested in a beast pole at some point. Just wondered what you guys that do high work favour as a good all round pole, I don't fancy a modulus to be honest.

You won't struggle with section length. Bear in mind it's light so you wouldn't even need to have it vertical while you extend. I'm 6' 1" so a little taller than you but I don't think it would make any difference. The bit that may take a little getting used to is that only the base section can be tightened anywhere along its length. The other sections must be clamped near the ends. It sounds a bit awkward but in practice, it isn't.

open it up at an angle I do this with all other poles, I never stand a pole up straight then try to push it up in the air.

I have one I'm 5'10. You can't easily extend the whole length at an angle. You can get three or four out then you have to go vertical. It's a lovely pole though. If you go one step longer then the extension sections can be locked anywhere. Have a look on Gardiners site then you can see Alex extending one. Don't know how long his arms are or what technique he uses. The clamps are well within reach it's just the distance you can extend your arm that is small compared to the shorter compact poles. Still a decent collapsed length compared to other inferior brands. You would be well above third floor too.

You can also hoist the Xtreme up from the ground at 40ft length! ;)

Has anyone got / tried or used a supermax 47-c (c = compact)? - closed length 5 foot 7" - working reach 52 foot about 1kg heavier than the extreme 48 foot

I had a 44' Supermax - excellent pole too but one step down from the Extreme really. Not so stiff or light. Bit like comparing a clx to an slx I suppose. You wouldn't go wrong with any of them. I also have the S2 but it seems affected by gusts of wind for some reason.
