i got a heavy duty car battery from the scrap yard for £15 i thought at the time it will do until i get a leisure battery sorted i have it on a split charge relay and its been there for 9 months and works fine i don't think i will bother with a leisure battery now as when this one dies i will go scrap yard with another £15

110a on a split charger, lasted me 2.5 years, didn't need charging once.

Split charge systems from http://www.rawcomponents.co.uk/split-charge-kits

Highly recommend investing in one, as it makes life so much easier not having to worry about charging it, or taking it on and off van to charge overnight.

Keep it as simple and efficient as possible.

How long per day would you say you used the battery?

I've just gone to a 110 leisure battery, gave it a 16hr charge prior to using it.  I don't think you can get more than 13 hrs work @ 8amp p/hr without charging.

work 2 to 3 days per week. running 2 pumps off battery via flow controller. from 9 to 4.30 average day. used to charge it every day!then as had spare thought would see how long last, nearly 4 weeks! still lasting 3 weeks even in this weather

That sounds good, I have a 2 spare's, though they are car batteries and 1 appears goosed, doesn't hold charge for more than 2-3 hrs.

I'll use it today and put spare on charge and see what I get.

Thanks

Rob.

2 pumps per van running at full speed using minimum of 600ltrs per day

110AH battery in wee van charged by split relay, never gone flat (apart from time fuse went - 10 second repair)

135Ah battery in big van, same situation.

Both batteries are US Power (expensive) but both 5 years old.
