Title: tax credit changes in april 2012
Post by: Pope vader on December 13, 2011, 10:24:28 pm
i know some will say people should not get them,  but a lot of custy are going to be worse off come april, i my self am going to be worse off by £70 a week, (as wife gone and got part time job 18 h)  but my mate who is on the sick and wife works 16 hours doesnt lose a penny, and will end up being better off than use as gets rent paid

you might think this wont affect you, but i bet a few will get a lot of cancellations or not this month after april

How come you will be £70 worse off, if your wife has got a new 18 hour job, as 18 hours x £6.08 = £109.40, with no tax to pay, if on min wage. Yes I know how tax credits work, and sometimes the dont make sense, as the less you work, the more you get etc

basically unless she goes and gets more hours to 24  they will take tax credits off us,  do this to a lot of people who have kids,  and there employers saying sorry there isnt more hours,  they will lose tax credits, and start cutting back on things

because i am self employed and wont make any difference, i was trying to point out what was happening in april and how it might affect a lot of people,  who are skint now and will be even worse in april

i know what u mean kleen,  as much as a lot of people on here make 300 a day before lunch,  a few will lose jobs, as people will say cant afford it,  and with unemployemnt going up more wc will appear and be cheaper

the one thing i noticed when i knock is that a lot of the good houses the prices are crap, as they get knocked that much  the prices are coming down every few months, with new wc starting,

So what is actually happening to the Tax Credits?

changing how you qualify for them,,  uping the hours you have to work to get them,  thus reducing the money you get,  if when you do more hours you get more pay, which means any housing benefit or that, that people get are reduced, meaning they have to contribute more,  less spare cash to spend,  they are also reducing the limit to which people stop getting tax credits to 40 k a year, (total income)

it will affect a lot,  but a lot wont notice till summer next year

So your income is not taken into account? you sure thats right.
