Have just started using a new harris pole and both the clamps tighten up fine....however the top pole section is not gripping properly and slides even after tightening the clamp... anyone else had this and if so how did they rectify?
Cheers, Mike

If it's new - take it back??
If you search back through the forum on Harris pole, there's a repair you can do, using a sleeve cut from a plastic drinks bottle.

Hi Dave....I have already modified it and used it for about a week....
-
I've got two in the van had them a couple of years :-\
They were originally just for backup in case a pole broke, but I've got more poles now. My Harris poles have now got a long bristled brush I use on gutter / fascia cleans and the others got one of the green screw up clamps with a couple of scouring sponge thingys in, for stubbon bird poop.
I guess there's a reason they're only £15.00

i use ptfe tape, unscrew the locking collar wrap the tape around the top of the threaded section, the bit that clamps the pole that will do the trick for a while but you will have to do it quite regular i am afraid as someone said"that's why they £15.00"
-
Cheers I will give that a try...got a years use from my last one....not bad for £15 ;D

Unger do a similar pole, 5m 3 section. We have a few of them. The inner clamps last about a couple of months and then they have to be replaced. WCW hold stocks of spare locking clamps, about £1.50 each, I think.

The Harris is still a fantastic pole.
AS with my clamps I remove the top clamp and trim the teeth of the clamp on the pole cut a 2/3 mm slot the length of the threaded plastic and fit a quick release bicycle clamp as you will see in the e bay site. You will need to trim the threaded plastic piece on the pole.
