Depends how old you are, 63,64 and it's poo.
If your younger and can afford it and gives you peace of mine and covers your bills then it may be ok

do you have to have certain accidents

I had with it when I was on traditional. 40 to 45 quid per month. have me 1200 a month. day 1 cover and covers you for anything. if your sick/accident bd can't work, your covered.
thinking of getting it again, its great peace of mind when you have a family relying on you/mortgage to pay for.
I was with pioneer friendly society, merged with someone else now.

You usually find with these sort of policies that (for obvious reasons) they are full of exclusions and don't actually give you the cover that you think they do.
Clearly just on a simple money in / money out basis you can see that if they have to cover their liabilities, pay the rent, wages etc and make a profit there can't be many people that ever get paid out.
There has been a lot of discussion about these schemes recently on a taxi forum, lots of taxi drivers have or have had them. The general view and some of the experiences were far from favourable.
I am not saying don't get one, what I am saying however is understand very clearly what the actual cover is and what you are getting into.

They still take your contributions out even when sick - you don't get the full amount you were expecting.

my experience has been completely favourable. when I caught a virus and was unable to drive hgvs for 12 months I got paid a very good pro rata rate from day 1. they also stopped premium payments for the length of claim. also I had a week off when had food poisoning, again no probs.
however, be careful, as with all insurance policies, usually there are lots of small print and exclusions to watch out for. tho my cover was from day 1, and there was no exclusions. if you were unable to work, for any health reason, you got paid. anything over 3 days and you needed a doctor to fill in form, which cost up to 20 quid, depending on your docs.
