looking at getting a new pole, got a22 clx at mo, but cant decided to get a other one or a slx, the difference is only 200g for £92 + vat difference
what in a house ways 200g so i can see/feel the difference
-
I DONT KNOW WHAT BRUSH YOU CURRENTLY USE BUT THE GARDINER EXTREME BRUSH WEIGHS 165G SO NOT AN AWFUL LOT OF WEIGHT. BUT THATS NOT THE ONLY FACTOR TO CONSIDER THE SLX IS ALOT STIFFER AND DEFINATELY A LEAGUE ABOVE THE CLX.

It's not just the weight but rigidity, in fact more so rigidity! ;)

cheers for that clean, didnt think of checking my brushes weight
-
i have the clx 22 and its very rigid, lovely light pole!if your gonna get slx go for a bigger one instead of having a clx 27
-
Ive just bought a 22SLX to replace my 22CLX and today is its first proper outing as off to do a load of work today so can let you know later ;)
-
Ive just gone from the clx22 to slx22 I don't really think I notice this 200g less by picking them both up but as soon as you extend the pole out 'GOD' the difference is alot.. Rigidity and over all balance of SLX when cleaning over connies and lower roof lines makes so easy on your arms... so for you guys who use poles all day everyday it's an easy choice to make.
Liked the CLX but love the SLX ;D

Going from the slx to the xtreme is just like going from a clx to a slx! ;D Can't go wrong with a slx though IMO they are dirt cheap (as in expense) for what you get. Not so long ago you would have paid double that for a worse pole! :-\

Honest opinion yes better pole ... spent the morning doing a load of little 2 bedders so didnt really appreciate the difference but after lunch moved onto some bigger stuff with connies / garages that have windows over them then I did notice a bigger difference .. worth the £90 ?? most definately YES .... 90 quid over 12 months life expectancy of a pole is nowt really, also when side to side rinsing no flex so a little better.
however consider this if the average house has say 10 windows and each window needs lets say 10 up and downs and side to side movements of the pole then thats a weight saving of 2 kilo's per window or 20 kilos per house .... 15 houses a day would be 300 kilos less effort per day and over a 20 day month would be 6000 kilos or 6 tonnes ... thats a lot less stress on joints / bones / muscles etc.
Did a mates pub / resteraunt this week and he has just had to spend £6000+VAT on a new oven / cooker which sounds a lot but when it now cooks everything twices as fast compared to his old one it makes a lot of financial sense and I seemed to finish about 30 minutes quicker than I normally do on this particular days work ... down to new pole or from having a day off yesterday ... dont know yet but be good if the pole makes me more productive

They last ages as well when looked after, my first SL-X is nearing the 4 year old mark, still a cracking pole. Imagine how much money you can make in 4 years, then think about how little £90 is compared to that. :)
-
I'm sure Alex could tell us that if fully extended, say to 25 feet, what the real weight is at the end of the pole, because 200g will be a lot more in real terms.
As I didn't do too well in physics or maths I can't give you the formula...

im after a slx 30 next as i dont like the clx27
but the clx22 is very light and more than capable on standard houses!

problem is the 200g will be spread throughout the length of the pole and prob very little actually in the end of the pole where all the force/ gravity will be acting upon it plus dont think the actual weight changes just the distubution of the force created by the weight will change
but having said all that it still makes a difference :)

It's a balance between weight, rigidity & strength.
No doubt you could lighten the slx further but you would lose rigidity. You could make it even more rigid but you would add weight.
I've got the very first MKI slx & the very latest. The MKI was a "tiny, tiny" bit more rigid BUT heavier & with a larger base diameter. The newest one is lighter, slimmer base diameter & almost as rigid- the difference in rigidity is hardly noticeable, but there if you want to be really picky.
However, the latest slx is much the better version IMO, overall easier to use.
If you change the materials & technology then you can get even closer to perfection- that's where the Xtreme takes over! ;)

I hope Alex is looking into Carbotanium. ;D
