Title: winterising pressure washers

Hi Guys, is it necessary to run antifreeze solution through the pressure washer in case of severe sub zero temps over winter? {I didn't last year and everything still worked ok}
I keep mine in the unheated garage under a tarp'

Aslong as you drain the pump after every use it should be ok, either by running it for a few seconds dry or by taking your inlet hose off and tilting your washer so that the water drains out from the inlet, with some machines this is not possible due to weight and position of inlet. worked for me last year, but i also believe that running your pump dry all the time can damage it

I've been running antifreeze through my set up after each use lately but the temps up here are low already at night (Scotland). Considering you can but 25l for about £25 - £30 then I'd rather be safe than sorry. But then again my stays in the van all winter which is effectively a huge fridge!

I am reliably told that most domestic pressure washers are killed off by freezing in some garage or shed rather than by wear and tear.

just dont use a heat gun/hair drier to defrost the pump!
