As title says, cuz im thinking of fitting one to my tank but really don`t want any leaks so could do with knowning what was used to seal it with out leaks
cheers ;)

Done 3 tanks - used a hole cutter - then bathroom sealant - no leaks the immersion cuts its own thread.
-
no leaks on mine, and i have it about 60-65
-
Plumbers mate, works a treat, over a year and not a leak.
-
did you all use a mechanical flange ??? going to set one up on my tank. thanks bee
-
i used a sealent from b and q that was for sticking bricks and plaster, metal together

Fitted mine last January, with mechanical flange- which is the best & most secure method. No sealants, just PTFE paste on the flange thread & PTFE tape on the immersion thread- ZERO leaks & works a treat. Not only do you get a tank of hot water that stays warm all day but NOTHING in the van freezes either with a 400ltr radiator in the back!!!! ;)
-
No need for sealants if you use the mechanical flange & do it correctly! ;)

Cheers lads, looks like a nice little job for me then this weekend :D

You'll get the flange & element (27" with resettable thermostat) from Toolstation- approx £13 each. ;)
You'll need heat resistant cable for the immersion (fit plug on other end) which you'll get from City electrical factors (or similar)
Also a 64mm hole saw for the flange hole. ;)

did mine last year never had any leaks, nice and warm this morning, i think it cleans better when the water is warmed up.
