Loads of messers today, what is it with some people?
1. Scaffolding at the back of first house due to solar panels being fitted. Fair enough
2. Customer pretending not to be in. They are in a run of three bed townhouses, right in the middle. So I phoned the number and it was engaged so I cleaned the front windows. Mr comes out then to his car and gets something, goes back in. Mrs comes out and gets in her car and leaves. Mr won't answer the door or phone once I have done the front so I can't get through the garage tpo clean the back qnd I can't get paid.
3. Customer of 18 months {old}, no thanks, you have scratched my windows. Oh dear, which ones. Never mind, you can only see it from the inside. I reminded her that the reason she engaged me in the first place was because the previous cleaner had scratched the windows with his squeegie. Doh.
4. Can you leave it until Christmas eve? No.
5 and on it goes, the most frustrating day ever :o

Some may say write something offesnsive in weedkiller on their front lawn, shoot the pets, torch their cars etc etc

some towns/villages are rife with sour sods. but some towns are full of happy and its a strange phenomenon .
i spoke about it to my lad today, that a novel idea would be to offer a "companion service" to the sour and lonely . im thinking it would be very popular ,cash up front only ,with the motto "we will put a smile back on YOUR face ... one way or another !"

Customer number 2 is possibly gone, I clean either side of them and they used to be great customers, quite chatty, paid me before I had finished so I could move straight on to the next. No idea what went on today.
Terry, love it! :-)

When I had my round in England, I was messed about or turned away very, very rarely. Most of the time there were legitimate reasons and there was really no problem. Here in Ireland it seems to be a national pastime. Some of my 'monthly' customers have already turned me away twice in successive months, saying the windows are still clean! I am trad, by the way, as are most other windows cleaners I have seen in the area.
Additionally, I even have some on a 3 monthly cycle who are now ignoring my follow up calls/texts/letters. I know for sure it's not due to poor quality, as I am a perfectionist/borderline OCD and take great pride in doing an excellent job for a very reasonable price. Since I have been here I have not had a single complaint on quality or price. I am very determined to succeed, but I must confess that it is very tough going here, and I can feel that I am struggling. The weather doesn't help, as no-one wants to know when it is raining, which is every day so far this week. However, there are many estates locally that I haven't canvassed yet, so there is still much work to be found!

tom, theres a good chance he may have been having a big poo. or an important phone conversation etc. give him the benefit of the doubt unless he does exactly the same thing next time. or maybe check with him if he's planning to have a poo around the same time next month. that way, everybodys happy

Yeah, the extended trip to the bathroom is a possibility..

ive been ill this week and lost 7 custards ;D they were bad payers anyway

No1 is the only one I'd be back to!
Your time is more valuable, in the time taken to clean their windows you could probably get yourself a new customer anyway!
We dropped 2 last week (we do very very few domestics!), £30 and a £12 - takes two of us 40 mins start to finish - I said the the big man, lets spend that 40 mins canvassing - got 3 new ones, £25, £22 and £15, all monthly same as the two we dropped. £20 a month up and the first clean on the three of them took 1hr 5mins, reckon repeat cleans will take 45mins. Happy days.
