obviously im new to this :) and am always looking for tips but what would people class as a full book for a traditional sole trader? is £100 a day (monday to friday) so say £2000 a month about right? is this target under, over or about right? i see alot of people are making over this but is this with water fed pole systems?
thanks in advance

£2000 per month, take away fuel, vehicle costs, insurance, tax etc... Doesn't leave you with much.
Remember you're running a business so its not £2000 per month salary.

so its under? i just wanted to start off being realistic so i guess im abit off lol
-
I suppose it depends on what you need to earn per month?

well i want to set my targets as high as possible but with me being a new starter i wanted to be realistic with myself... £100 a day sounded like the best figure to get myself to at first for each day? how far off would you think i am with setting a decent realistic target for one man to earn per day? thanks for your reply

I think if you can do £100 a day as a new start up, you're doing very well. Don't underprice just to get jobs, try and price a semi at £10 minimum; add more for conservatories and access problems.
If you underprice jobs because you think you've got more chance of getting more customers this way, you're wrong, and you'll suffer for years because of it.
Tell us what you've done so far? Or is this just an initial post?

ive knocked on doors and done a leaflet drop and the knocking on doors seems to get alot better respsonse (obviously because the customer is seeing me face to face and giving an immediate answer yes or no)....
ive picked up quite a number of semi sized houses and ive priced at £10/£11 with a couple being £9 so i think im getting my pricing about right....
im not going to lie i have maybe priced a couple of houses abit under at first as a new canvasser just to try and get the work but this is literaly like 2 houses! your deffo right that its a habit i dont want to get into!!!!!
i get asked about quite a few gutter jobs which is all well and good for money but is time consuming when i need to be spending time trying to build a reguler custome base

Is this your only source of income at present? Or are you working and setting this up part time?
-
just keep door knocking for now....... it'll be a while before you reach a 2k per month target.
£100 a day trad is not bad with low running costs etc 8)

yes this is my only source of income at the moment and am aiming to get to the point where im full time and who knows where from there :)
thats what i thought dave for the time being
thanks

As Dave said and as your finding out, door knocking is king. You won't build a round quicker. Also get to know local wc's and see if they have work to sell or even give, you'll be surprised. I'd look to do a few days with them if posswhile building your round to keep the pennies coming in and gain experience.

Just keep collecting new customers and cleaning the ones you already have and the rest will take care of itself. Don't worry too much about what some of the people on here say. You are doing alright.

2k a month, say for eleven months a year (minus a month for holidays, weather etc..) makes about 22k a year - minus your costs, still leaves a nice income that's much better than minimum wage mate - you keep going 2k is fine ;)

thanks everyone

a full round i'd say is when youre working full time. work out what you aim to earn an hour but dont kill yourself if youre a bit off
