Post by: Bbarrow on November 24, 2011, 06:35:41 pm
can any of you guys recommend a good pump up sprayer there seem to be a lot out there, at varied prices, i have one but it doesnt seem to spray that well(not very powerful). Are they all kind of the same or can you get some powerful ones, without going electrical.

My preference is the Orion when using LM other than that in-line comes out at 300psi I think well that’s what I set it too

I use 2 litre hand pump sprayers from Wilko

they cost peanuts, you don't mix too much solution up and therefore waste it

when they break they are not expensive to replace  £2.50 each

my current ones have been on the go since march this year so don't owe me owt any more...

 ;D ;D ;D

The WCW battery ones are great.

If determined to stick with pump-up then go for IK6 or IK9 from Solo Sprayers: -

www.solosprayers.co.uk

There is a guy that upgrades these on here, John Kelly I think. Search him on here.

I'll second the IK series of sprayers. Use them for my acids, also g as you rinse them out, they are the nuts.

I wouldnt go near the  IK6 or IK9 brands. Bought one costing approx £80 (10 or 12 ltr, cant remember which one) thinking it must be quality and it lasted 5 months. The shaft bent because its too weak (bit pathetic really).

I bought matabi in the end, much stronger & much cheaper. I had a few before and they lasted about 8yrs.

I've got gloria sprayers dating back over 14 years.  Yes some of the plastic bits break but the essential parts keep on working, they're built like tanks.  You just have to do a little bit of maintenance every now and then.

I brought the IK9 off ebay with the the upholstery gun and carpet clean lance, problem is the lance is an excellent conductor of heat so hot pre-spray is no-no because the lance gets hot. Did not take long for the lance to snap too. I then got the beefed up lance from restormate which is superb. Doing it this way though it cost me more so would recommend this http://www.restormate.co.uk/epages/15094.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/15094/Products/IK9heavy (http://www.restormate.co.uk/epages/15094.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/15094/Products/IK9heavy) I do agree the plastic pump could be stronger but have been using it now for nearly a year with no problems and it puts up with hot water etc. Just need someone to put a steel pump rod in now :D

Simon, I have the same problem with heat from the IK9 so I just wrap a terry towel round the handle when I want to use it, keeps it handy to wipe off any overspray then too.

i got my stainless steel sprayer from solo sprayers i think off ebay. i think they were less than £50 each with brass lances and good spray tips . they were 4ltr sprayers. good value in my opinion and good customer services.

Thanks Ash, I actually found some thick foam sleave meant for a push bike grip, sliced it down the middle and fitted that, and it worked all right, but as I said it snapped in the end so got the heavy duty one. Plenty of ways round it but just seemed a bit of pain.

Not sure anyone can help? I could do with a fan jet 8002 I think it is, that does not leave a wetter line on the fan edge. Tend not to notice it on pile carpets but on loops or low profiles it's quite clear. Thought of trying a brass one but have not got round to it yet.
