Title: kiwi black shoe polish

friends got this on her carpet whats the best to get it off im poping round tomorrow i thought ide try useing tar and glue remover  then cleaning the carpet affected area with the usuall stuff

Bill,

Your'e on the right lines , white spirit is good for removing shoe polish but you will need to extract afterwards with a detergent.

if i try a big attempt to clean it will this invalidate her insurance shes been told it will buy another carpet cleaner who said he couldnt do better than 10001 thats what shes allready tried and he advised her to just claim off the insurance but im sure i read somewhere on here that it wouldnt. if it will i will do a very small tester .

Through my experience of when I did Fire & Flood work, Ins Co's state that the insured 'should take resonable steps to prevent further damage' this is what she is doing by employing the services of a Professional, as for the other guy who told her to use 1001 may God Bless him and ALL who use his services.

Hi Bill
She's entitled to try and have the marks removed, if this wasn't the case the insurance companies costs would be twice as high as everytime someone got a mark on the carpet they would recieve a claim.
Some polishes come out with just a detergent, if that doesn't work try solvent such as pog or try a citrus gel. Rinse well.
