Hi
Been asked to clean a suite which is labelled as 93% cotton 7%nylon, burn test showed up as cotton. It is gold coloured with pile (which is ridged) what I identified thro my notes as cotton velvet. Believe this should be dry cleaned (as label states) but quite heavily soiled in areas therefore I believe may need hot water extraction. Hope to be able to remove soil quickly with as little water as possible and dry quickly, and groom pile back to place.
Any advice from more experienced members gratefully received. Cheers.
I have posted this elsewhere so sorry if this is repeated.

Hi,
I've wet anddry cleaned in the past and you are right , dry cleaning is just not going to be very effective.
It then comes down to deciding on your customers expectations , are they prepared to accept a little pile stiffening as the price for a clean suite or are they looking for perfection.
Depending on their response i would clean carefully with HWE , water not too hot or leave alone if you expect possible trouble.
Is the pattern of a flower.
Cheers

Thanks for reply. No pattern just gold coloured.

Hi,
It sounds like this suite will be wet cleanable provided you use a cautious approach , especially in the early stages.
A drop of your cleaning solution onto an inconspicuos area , see how it wets out , colour transfer(unlikely) see how it responds to towelling.

'A drop of your cleaning solution onto an inconspicuos area' ::)
I say this time & time again, if you want to know how a fabric will react to the cleaning process
CLEAN SOME!!
get a cushion and clean & dry the zip section then you'll be certain it will be OK to clean.

Mike,
There are many different approaches which us experienced cleaners use.
My suggestion was aimed at getting someone to understand wetting , colour bleed etc.
