Title: Free stain remover
Post by: rs_cleancare on November 27, 2005, 07:23:34 pm
Hi been thinking of going down the road of offering my customers a free stain remover after each job. Have all my contact info plus how to use stain remover on it.
Im sure this topic has been covered before but what i want to know is where i can buy empty bottles or pre made up bottles. They would have to be cheap as i don't want to throw away all my hard earned cash.

Thanks Tony just looked at the website and liked the look of the promo bottles. For that price you can't go wrong. The only down side is the one off payment of £25 for setup time on putting logos on stickers. Works out with the VAT at £1.75 a bottle.

As far as i'm aware, the £25 fee is a one off set up fee...not paid on each order. I couldn't find a cheaper alternative for a quality product.  :)

Hi Guys,

I give a card , a couple of sticky phone book labels and that's it.

The point I'm making is that spotting solutions etc etc are O.K in theory but the vast majority of people just will not take any notice.

Think how many cards you could hand out for £1.50.

Spotters are O.K but when they don't work a negative feeling is created.

Have you found a good spotter yet , I haven't in 20 odd years and I've tried a few.

Just think if you did,  it would probably reduce your cleaning frequency by half.

Cheers

Doug

From there web site! There is a one-off set up charge of £25 if you want us to design the label - provide your own design and set-up is free.
We can also supply blank bottles of spot remover - if you prefer to have the labels printed yourself.

Yes solution does a good product (which I use) and the labels for me are from the Avery stable but still branding there name not mine, think a call to both!

Doug

You have a point! But I sell it and advise not bullet proof the same applies to my spotting guide on my web page!  But it’s got to be better than the brands on the supermarkets shelves.

The way I do it is to leave a bottle of spotter with each customer along with a 12 Month Customer care card, which basically goes along the line of....should the spotter supplied not resolve the situation the custard has 3 free callouts available for me to remove potential stains.

This is good because a) They are taught to use the micro-splitter based product.....not the contents from under the kitchen sink.....making my job easier should I be called out , and,
b) It gets me in front of my customers again....and more business may be developed.

Hi Goron,

It's basically Zip It with a small amount of deodoriser.

If on your website you have zip it at £3.95 per bottle

Then you add a deodorizer and a label and reduce the price to under half the original cost, I'm sorry but i have to ask HOW,  or is this in fact ordinary carpet cleaner diluted and put in a new bottle as Steve suggested.

Hi,

I spoke to One-Step about this during the planning stages.

Zip it is made out of the same stuff as One-Step Concentrate - as it's the same product with a different dilution ratio.

Being a distributor for One-Step, I get am able to by bulk quantities of concentrate at a discounted rate - and then dilute the concentrate appropriately.

With One-Step, you get better results than possible with a neutral spotter, but it's still safe to leave with clients.

With regards to hazard info on the bottle, one of the advantages to using micro-splitters is that there are no hazard symbols. So it's safer for carpet cleaners, and safe to give to consumers.

All that's required on the label is 'Not Classified as Dangerous Goods'.

Hope that answers your questions.

Cheers

Sorry it may just be me but isn't the spotter 25% stronger than the carpet cleaner? so you can't get the spotter by diluting the carpet cleaner but you can get the carpet cleaner by diluting the spotter!

Just what ratio have you diluted the carpet cleaner to?

Cheers Goron

Not according to One-Step. The concetrate is called that for a reason.

As I say, it is diluted at a ratio that gives better results than a neutral spotter. If you would like it to be stronger, please let me know and I will give you a quote.

Remember, these are not professional use spotters. These are designed as promo items to give away free - so I am trying to keep the cost down.

I have also priced them low because I have just started a new cleaning supplies business and am trying to get people to try me out.

At the end of the day, the client gets a free bottle of spot remover that will remove most water-based stains - with your company details printed on the front.

I was actually worried that people might have the opposite complaint i.e. that if the client has access to professional grade One-Step, it will cost the carpet cleaner in lost spot removal work!

Cheers

Just to clarify,

One-Step have now introduced a new concentrate formula that is about 6 times stronger than the original One-Step Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner.

They recommend you dilute it at 60:1 for maintenance cleans, and 30-40:1 for restoration cleans.

So it's now the cheapest microsplitter on the market as far as I am aware.
