Title: upholstery pink spots

Hi can any one tell me why  i had pink spots when dried out on a chair
after cleaning used all neutral prouducts.

Lots of posts on this subject, its an indicator dye reaction. To rectify spray with bi-carb of soda and watch it disappear! One teaspoon in a 500ml  spray bottle.  8)

As far as I've understood the science behind this when explained by other people, if it is an indicator dye problem, the pink spots are caused by acidity.

If you used pH neutral products, these spots could be where the customer has maybe used their own cleaning products to spot clean?  Or it could be acidic pH soiling that has caused the problem once wetted?

Paul's suggested action is the remedy normally suggested, usually sorts it out according to others who've had the problem.

Amazingly in all the years I've been cleaning upholstery I've never had this problem ever! ???  Must be one lucky SOB

You must be because get this example.
Years ago and part of a full carpet cleaning package and on the day I was asked to clean a very pale sofa.
I looked at it and it was near on in perfect condition, checked inside to make sure of filling and that marker pens hadn't been used on the filling.
The scene was set, all this needed was a good vacuum and a little deodorizer sprayed on it for effect!
Later that afternoon I got a phone call to say parts of it had gone slightly pink.....HOW? It was dry on it's own within 10 minutes.
I went around and sure enough there was a slight pink tinge in some areas......Time to panic. Made a call to some of ours with supreme knowledge to be told about indicator dyes. I explained this to the customer who was more than happy with the explanation and that I wasn't to blame.
Sometimes there are things out there ready to fk you up good style, even if you carried out pre tests you can't be sure of hitting that spot which is ready to mess up your day.
